About this Opportunity

The IndiaAI Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) Challenge is a national initiative aimed at developing a robust, scalable, accurate, and secure AI engine for advanced document processing.
The program seeks solutions leveraging OCR and NLP to extract, segment, structure, and analyse critical information from diverse document types, including certificates, affidavits, identity cards, transcripts, disciplinary proceedings, and more.

The challenge focuses on building AI systems capable of handling degraded document quality, non-standard layouts, multi-font content, and linguistic diversity across multiple Indian languages.
Selected solutions should deliver structured outputs, metadata-tagged segmentation, summarisation, and explainable mappings to source documents.

Up to 5 shortlisted teams will receive ₹5 Lakhs each to refine their solutions, and up to 2 teams may win a national-scale two-year deployment work order worth up to ₹1 Crore.

Eligibility

  • Indian companies registered under the Companies Act, 2013 with ≥51% Indian ownership.
  • DPIIT-recognized startups.
    Applicants must demonstrate:
  • A proprietary AI/ML-driven solution with verifiable documentation (technical specifications, IP, certifications, patents).
  • Prior development and deployment experience in relevant AI/ML document-processing solutions across public or private sector engagements.

Application Process

Stage 1: Registration and submission of solutions.
Stage 2: Evaluation process.
Stage 3: Up to 5 shortlisted teams receive ₹5 Lakhs to refine and test solutions on datasets provided by IndiaAI/partner institutions.
Stage 4: Up to 2 teams may secure a two-year national deployment work order valued up to ₹1 Crore.
