What AIC–Nalanda Institute of Technology Foundation reports about its portfolio.

All four of the centre's impact figures are homepage counters with no date attached, and the mentor count disagrees with its own mentors page. Treat them as the centre's own claims.

200Startups supportedHomepage counter, undated. It renders blank without JavaScript; the value is in the page markup.
30Mentors on panelHomepage counter says 30, while the centre's own mentors page lists 34 named people.

All figures self-reported — aicnalanda.com, as of Sept 2026.

Programmes they run

Standing programmes at AIC–Nalanda Institute of Technology Foundation, separate from the funding calls above.

Programme pages stay live between intakes, so treat the Apply menu on the centre's own site as the list of what is actually open. Two more names appear in the navigation that are not written up here: VRITIKA-WCIP, which has an open application link but no description page at all beyond its cohort list, and SAMARTH-LIFT OFF and MERAKI, whose pages are empty.

How to apply to AIC–Nalanda Institute of Technology Foundation

Choosing the right programme

Match your stage to the entry point instead of applying everywhere. If you have an idea and nothing built yet, IDEANEST is the pre-incubation route. If you are an Odisha-based startup already selling, SANVRIDDHI is the acceleration track written for you. If you are already an incubatee, SURGE is the annual programme that pushes you towards being investible. Sector tracks are narrow and worth checking first: OTAP is tourism, travel and hospitality only; D2C Blaze and D2C Ascend are for consumer brands; S.I.G.M.A. is framed around sustainable and urban innovation. If you run a college entrepreneurship cell rather than a startup, SAHYOG is the one to look at.

How applications work

Each open call has its own application link, reached from the Apply menu on the centre's site, and the links change as calls open and close. At the time of writing, IDEANEST 6.0, SURGE NEXT, VRITIKA-WCIP 2.0 and SAHYOG all had live links; the other programmes list past cohorts but no open call. Check the Apply menu before assuming a programme is taking applications, because the programme description pages stay live between intakes. If nothing matches, StartConnect is an open forum any startup can use to reach the centre's network, and general enquiries go to incmgr@aicnalanda.com or +91-9178455100.

How selection works

Whichever programme you apply to, your application carries a business plan. That plan goes first to an Internal Review Committee, which comments on whether the idea is technically and commercially feasible. It is then scored against a published list of criteria.

What reviewers look for

The criteria the centre publishes are: the strength of the product idea in terms of technical content, innovation, timelines and market potential; the profile of the core team and promoters; intellectual-property potential; financial and commercial viability; market timelines; breakeven period and impact value; and scalability. Two of those are easy to underweight in a first draft. Write down what is defensible or protectable about your technology, because IP potential is scored on its own. And give a real breakeven estimate with the assumptions behind it, rather than a revenue curve.

Practical notes

The centre's own pages are uneven — several programme pages carry no description at all, and some homepage sections are left-over template content from the host college. Treat the programme description pages and the eligibility page as the reliable parts, and confirm dates and intake details by email before you plan around them.

About AIC–Nalanda Institute of Technology Foundation

AIC-Nalanda Institute of Technology Foundation (AIC-NITF) is a technology business incubator in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, supported by the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) under NITI Aayog, Government of India. Its host institution is Nalanda Institute of Technology, and it works out of Buddhist Villa, Chandaka, on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar. Its Founder's Desk page describes it as having been selected as the first Atal Incubation Centre in Odisha.

How programmes work

AIC-Nalanda runs a ladder of cohort programmes rather than one open-ended incubation scheme. IDEANEST is the pre-incubation entry point, built for people at the ideation and early stage who need an entrepreneurial grounding before they have anything to validate; it has run five completed editions and IDEANEST 6.0 is the current call. SANVRIDDHI is the acceleration programme for Odisha-based startups that have reached market entry or early revenue, and has run three editions. SURGE is the annual cohort incubation programme for startups already inside the centre, aimed at making them self-sustaining and investible; five editions have run and a SURGE NEXT application is currently open.

Alongside those sit sector and partner programmes. OTAP, the Odisha Tourism Acceleration Program, is a sixteen-week accelerator for tourism, travel and hospitality startups. D2C Blaze is a twelve-week growth accelerator for early-stage direct-to-consumer brands, with D2C Ascend as a second D2C acceleration track. S.I.G.M.A. is a two-week accelerator run under the HDFC Parivartan CSR programme that ends in an investor demo day. The centre also runs the national Startup India Seed Fund Scheme as four named tracks — SEED, SPROUT, STEM and SCALE — and publishes two SEED cohorts covering eighteen named startups.

SAHYOG is different in kind: it is a capacity-building programme for the entrepreneurship cells of colleges rather than for individual founders, running twenty-one structured engagements across a year with no registration fee. A VRITIKA-WCIP call is also open from the site's apply menu, but the site publishes only its cohort list and no description of the programme itself.

Who can apply

The eligibility page is explicit that this is not a students-only centre: it says AIC-Nalanda welcomes any aspiring founder who wants to develop an idea, and startups that want to scale an existing business. The restrictions that do exist are specific and worth reading carefully. SANVRIDDHI is limited to Odisha-based startups. SAHYOG is for the E-cells of colleges and academic institutions. Mo Startup Bootcamp is for students on undergraduate programmes. Startup Fest is the one genuinely internal event, run for students of the host institution, Nalanda Institute of Technology. Everything else — IDEANEST, SURGE, OTAP, the D2C tracks, S.I.G.M.A. and the seed-fund tracks — is written for founders generally.

Selection follows the same shape across programmes. The application carries a business plan, which goes to an Internal Review Committee for a view on technical and business feasibility, and is then scored on the strength of the product idea, the profile of the core team, intellectual-property potential, commercial viability, market timelines, breakeven period and impact, and scalability.

Facilities

The centre offers independent co-working desks with flexible occupancy, meeting rooms and a multipurpose conference room with projector and video-conferencing, high-speed internet and round-the-clock power. It runs a Fab Lab with tooling that ranges from basic mechanical equipment to advanced machinery for design and prototyping, plus monthly student workshops, and it lists an ICT lab, an IoT lab and makerspace, a recreation zone and a multi-sector digital library on startups, entrepreneurship, business and marketing. Incubatees also get cloud and software credits through tie-ups with Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, Zoho and Bugasura.

Two standing services sit outside the cohorts. The Intellectual Property Coordination Cell handles IP registrations and certifications for innovators and startups. StartConnect is an open forum any startup can use to reach the partner network the centre has built, without joining a programme first.

Scale

AIC-Nalanda's homepage counters claim 200 startups supported, 30 mentors, 40 investors and 35 partnerships and collaborations. These are self-reported and undated, and the mentor figure does not match the centre's own mentors page, which lists 34 named people. Named startups appear across three published lists: a portfolio strip on the homepage, two Startup India Seed Fund Scheme SEED cohorts, and the VRITIKA cohort.

Who runs it

Malaya Kumar Padhi is Founder Director. Durga Prasad Gouda is Chief Executive Officer and Manas Ku. Samantaray is Chief Innovation Officer, both of whom came from teaching and innovation-cell roles at Nalanda Institute of Technology. Deepshikha Sarkar is Incubation Manager, with programme managers for incubation, operations and innovation, and an investment manager. The site's navigation names a Director General, a Governing Council and an Advisory Board, but none of those pages are published.

Events and how to reach them

The centre hosts recurring events founders can attend without being incubated: the Odisha Startup Carnival, a fourteen-day mentor and investor connect fest with 2022, 2023 and 2024 editions; IP Sparks bootcamps, which culminate in an IP Conclave on World IP Day each 26 April; Innovate Odisha; Startup Launchpad; and Angel Investment Mantra, which is aimed at potential local angel investors rather than founders. A collaborative-programmes page lists the outside events it co-runs, and its photo gallery is the most reliable guide to what has actually happened recently. There is no careers page. The office is on +91-9178455100, and the address is Buddhist Villa, Chandaka, Bhubaneswar 754005.
