Eight active programs are currently accepting applications from idea-stage startups in India, offering grants, incubation, and competition prize money. These include the Agripreneurship Orientation Programme (AOP) at IIT Kharagpur, the WeaveX Textile Incubation Program at IIM Kozhikode, and the Ambedkar Social Innovation and Incubation Mission (ASIIM) by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.

For idea-stage startups — those with a validated concept but no product or revenue — the funding landscape in India includes non-dilutive grants, incubation support with seed funding, and hackathon-style competitions. Most programs require a minimum viable product or prototype, but several explicitly target pre-revenue founders. Typical eligibility includes being a registered entity or having a strong concept; some are restricted by sector, state, or community.

Ambedkar Social Innovation and Incubation Mission (ASIIM) (Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment)

Before Applying

Several programs have specific eligibility constraints. AOP and SOP at IIT Kharagpur are restricted to founders from West Bengal or ventures originating from the state. ASIIM is limited to Scheduled Caste entrepreneurs. WeaveX targets textile-focused startups, and NERVE CoE focuses on deep tech and AI. Most require at least a prototype or validated concept, but Youth Code x AI and United Hacks accept ideas at any stage. For competitions like Ideabaaz and United Hacks, pre-revenue teams are eligible as long as they can present a pitch.

Timing is critical. Youth Code x AI closes on 27 June 2026 — the same day as this article. AOP, SOP, and WeaveX close on 30 June 2026, leaving only three days. NERVE CoE's OCP closes on 15 July, and United Hacks on 12 July. ASIIM and Ideabaaz have rolling applications, but Ideabaaz's festival dates are fixed in August, so early application is advised. Most programs have a pre-screening or shortlisting step; AOP and SOP involve a selection process after application.
