Gujarat's startup ecosystem currently features six active programs, encompassing a mix of state-specific grants, seed funds, incubation support, and innovation competitions accessible to local ventures. These initiatives are designed to foster innovation, facilitate growth, and provide crucial financial and infrastructural backing for early-stage companies across various sectors. The state's proactive approach to innovation is evident through robust government policies like SSIP 2.0 and the Atmanirbhar Gujarat Scheme, alongside key institutions such as i-Hub and Savli Technology and Business Incubator. This collaborative environment aims to integrate industry, academia, and government efforts to cultivate a thriving entrepreneurial landscape.

Startup Srujan Seed Support (S4) (i-Hub)

The Startup Srujan Seed Support (S4) – Cohort 3 program is a flagship initiative by the Gujarat Student Startup and Innovation Hub (i-Hub), operating under the Student Startup and Innovation Policy (SSIP 2.0) of the Government of Gujarat's Education Department. This program channels funds from SSIP 2.0's corpus to support early-stage innovators and startups throughout Gujarat. S4 focuses on assisting young innovators in moving from Proof of Concept (PoC) to the product and market stages. It offers financial aid from ₹2.5 lakh up to ₹10 lakh, designated for activities such as prototype development, market validation, product refinement, and early commercialization efforts. The program is designed to bridge the funding gap for startups transitioning from ideation to initial market entry.

Atmanirbhar Gujarat Scheme (Government of Gujarat)

The Atmanirbhar Gujarat Scheme (2022–27), also known as the Gujarat Industrial Policy, provides comprehensive incentives for MSMEs and other industrial units. Implemented by the Government of Gujarat, this scheme aims to bolster industrial growth and self-reliance within the state. The policy includes several components to support businesses. It offers capital assistance of up to 25% of Fixed Capital Investment (FCI) for general categories, with higher rates for thrust sectors (e.g., pharma, chemicals, agro-food, electronics, defence, textiles) and units in backward talukas. Additionally, it provides an interest subsidy of up to 7% on term loans for MSMEs, with an extra 1% for SC/ST, women, differently-abled, and youth entrepreneurs. Other benefits include SGST reimbursement for 5–10 years, EPF reimbursement (employer share) for 5–10 years for new employment, and electricity duty exemption. This scheme is offered on a rolling basis.

Shri Vajpayee Bankable Yojana (Cottage and Rural Industries Department)

The Shri Vajpayee Bankable Yojana is an initiative from the Cottage and Rural Industries Department, Government of Gujarat, designed to promote self-employment. The program targets unemployed individuals in both urban and rural areas of Gujarat, helping them establish micro-enterprises. This scheme is inclusive, extending its financial facilitation and support specifically to disabled and visually impaired persons. Its objective is to enable job seekers to become job creators, supporting the launch of sustainable businesses across various sectors and contributing to local economic development. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

Micro Finance (GBCDC) (Social Justice and Empowerment Department)

The Micro Finance (GBCDC) scheme is managed by the Gujarat Backwards Classes Development Corporation (GBCDC) under the Social Justice and Empowerment Department, Government of Gujarat. This program supports self-employment for men from socially and educationally backward classes. The scheme offers financial assistance at low interest rates, facilitating small business development and entrepreneurial ventures. Beneficiaries can utilize the capital to establish or expand businesses, acquire technical skills, and achieve financial independence. This program accepts applications continually.

Passenger Vehicle/Loading Vehicle Loan Scheme (DAADC) (Social Justice and Empowerment Department)

The loan is specifically for purchasing passenger or freight vehicles, directly creating self-employment opportunities in Gujarat's transport sector. This initiative aims to enhance economic inclusion and provide sustainable livelihoods for marginalized communities. This scheme has a rolling application process.

HackTheHurdle STBI Hackathon 2026 (Savli Technology and Business Incubator)

HackTheHurdle (HTH) STBI Hackathon 2026 is a technology-led innovation challenge organized by the Savli Technology and Business Incubator (STBI) under the Department of Science & Technology, Government of Gujarat. HTH serves as a funnel for STBI’s Regional Innovation Cells, inviting students, researchers, and local innovators to address regional and industrial problem statements directly. The program offers up to ₹1,50,000 in funding for winning solutions. The deadline for applications is 2 October 2026.

Before Applying

Applicants should carefully review eligibility criteria across Gujarat's diverse funding landscape. Programs like the Startup Srujan Seed Support (S4) are tailored for young innovators transitioning from Proof of Concept, while the Atmanirbhar Gujarat Scheme targets MSMEs, especially those in thrust sectors or backward regions. Specific social classifications apply to the Micro Finance (GBCDC) and Passenger Vehicle/Loading Vehicle Loan Scheme (DAADC), focusing on backward classes and SC Antyodaya families, respectively, and the Shri Vajpayee Bankable Yojana is open to unemployed individuals, including disabled persons. While many of Gujarat's government-backed schemes, including S4, Atmanirbhar Gujarat, Shri Vajpayee Bankable Yojana, Micro Finance, and Passenger Vehicle Loan schemes, offer rolling application deadlines, the HackTheHurdle STBI Hackathon 2026 has a firm deadline of 2 October 2026. Prospective applicants for the hackathon should ensure timely submission to avoid missing this opportunity.
