The centre runs three incubation routes under one incubation policy. They share a single twice-yearly Call for Application and a pitch to the Startups Selection Committee, but differ in who they are for and whether a venture must already be incorporated.

Pre-Incubation Support

A one-year pre-incubation route for teams with an idea or proof-of-concept that is not yet an incorporated company.

What you get, who can apply and how to apply

Pre-Incubation Support is for groups or teams whose idea could become a start-up but who have not yet incorporated a company. The idea may be at an initial stage or at proof-of-concept. The support runs for one year.

Who can apply

  • Groups or teams with a valid business idea that is not yet an incorporated company
  • Teams from BAMU, from other universities, or as a separate entity
  • Ideas at the initial stage or at proof-of-concept

How selection works: A Call for Application, held twice a year, followed by initial screening, submission of an application form and pitch deck, then a pitch before the Startups Selection Committee.

How to apply: Apply through the Call for Application on the centre's site. On selection, read and agree to the draft incubation agreement.

Incubation is for start-up ventures that have a registered entity and have developed initial prototypes or validated their product or service in the market with some initial customers.

Who can apply

  • Start-up ventures with a registered entity, with an initial prototype or market-validated product and some early customers
  • Founders must incorporate a private or public limited company or an LLP under the Companies Act 2013
  • The incorporation condition can be relaxed for six months if the venture signs and submits a Letter of Intent and incorporates within six months

How selection works: A Call for Application, held twice a year, followed by initial screening, submission of an application form and pitch deck, then a pitch before the Startups Selection Committee.

How to apply: Apply through the Call for Application. Ventures that have not yet incorporated can begin on a Letter of Intent and complete incorporation within the relaxation window.

Virtual Incubation is for start-up ventures that have a registered entity and do not require physical working space at the incubation centre.

Who can apply

  • Registered ventures that do not need working space at the centre
  • Founders must incorporate a company under the Companies Act 2013; this is relaxed for recent graduates, who can incorporate within six months to one year of starting at the centre
  • The venture should have innovative ideas or a proof-of-concept with a plan to generate revenue

How to apply: Apply through the same Call for Application and Startups Selection Committee process as the other incubation routes, in the prescribed format with the required documents.
