Picking the right pathway

• If you are a Mahindra University student with an early idea, Eureka Evenings is the monthly, low-stakes way in. It is explicitly a student platform and its stated purpose is to point serious teams onward, not to filter them out.
• If you have an idea but have not validated the problem, IdeaSprint (three days, in person) or the four-month Pre-Incubation Program are the right entry points. IdeaSprint names outside founders as well as student teams.
• If you already have a validated concept and want space, mentors and market access, apply for incubation.
• If you are faculty, a researcher or a PhD scholar with something coming out of a lab, Lab-to-Market is the pathway built for that.
• If you just need one conversation about one problem, book a Startup Clinic session — 30 minutes, online or in person.

How applications work

• Incubation intake is through periodic rolling calls, not a single annual deadline. There is no standing form, so watch the centre's page for a call rather than waiting for a fixed date.
• The centre publishes no apply link or inbox of its own, and the one apply button on its older page is broken. Ask through Mahindra University's general enquiries route, or approach the centre's team directly, and say which pathway you want.
• Check the eligibility question before you write anything long. The incubation pages set no institutional gate, but the centre's parent page describes its programmes as open to the university's students and faculty. If you are an outside founder, get that confirmed first.

How selection works

• For incubation the centre states three steps: your application is reviewed, then evaluated, then you pitch to the incubation panel.
• Selected startups are offered support for up to 18 months, and the centre says the length depends on how the venture progresses. It is not a guaranteed 18 months.
• Pre-incubation ends in a pitch day rather than a selection gate, so treat it as a route that builds towards an incubation application.

What to put in front of them

• Evidence that you validated the problem, not just that you built something. Customer discovery, assumption testing and problem-statement clarity run through every pathway description the centre publishes.
• A clear line to one of its four stated focus areas: a UN Sustainable Development Goal, an Industry 4.0 technology such as automation or data systems, a real-world social, economic or civic problem, or a case for building responsibly and at scale.
• What you would actually use on campus. The centre's pull is its prototyping lab and the university's robotics, EV, supercomputer, life science and makers labs, so name the ones your build needs.
• Realistic expectations on money. The centre's own pages are inconsistent about whether it funds startups directly; its incubation page says funding decisions are external and that what it offers is funding readiness and investor introductions. Ask, and do not plan around an assumption.

AIC Mahindra e-Hub Foundation is the Atal Incubation Centre at Mahindra University in Hyderabad. It is a Section 8 not-for-profit company, established by the university and supported by the Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog, Government of India. It works with founders at the early and critical stages of a venture — problem validation, prototyping, product development, user testing, market access, funding preparedness and business growth — from the university's campus at Bahadurpally, Jeedimetla.

The centre is also referred to on its own pages as AIC Mahindra and as Mahindra e-Hub, and it sits inside the university's Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CEI). If you are searching for any of those names, they are the same place.

How programmes work

AIC Mahindra describes a stage-wise model rather than a single cohort. Six pathways are named on its page. Eureka Evenings is a monthly idea pitch session for Mahindra University students. IdeaSprint is a three-day in-person bootcamp on problem validation, open to early-stage founders as well as student teams. Startup Clinic is a booked 30-minute mentoring session, online or in person, on one or two problems you bring. The Pre-Incubation Program is a four-month hybrid engagement — an on-campus bootcamp, then virtual mentoring, ending in a pitch day. The Lab-to-Market Program is for faculty, researchers and PhD scholars trying to move research towards a product or a company.

Incubation itself is the main door. The centre takes applications through periodic rolling calls rather than one annual intake, and selected startups get support for up to 18 months. Its own summary of what that includes: mentoring, workspace, prototyping and lab access, business guidance, market connects, funding readiness, investor linkages and ecosystem support. The programme describes itself as technology-driven and industry-agnostic, with four stated focus areas — innovation aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, Industry 4.0 technologies such as automation and data systems, solutions to real-world social, economic and civic problems, and responsible, scalable venture building.

On funding, the centre's pages disagree with each other and it is worth knowing before you apply. On its incubation page the centre says the programme supports funding readiness and investor connections, and that funding decisions are external. An older e-Hub offerings list names a seed fund, and the CEI page says the university connects startups to seed funding, grants and investor networks through AIC Mahindra. Treat investor introductions as the thing that is consistently promised, and ask about anything beyond that.

Who can apply

This is the part the site is least clear about, so read it carefully. Only one pathway states a hard restriction: Eureka Evenings is for Mahindra University students, undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD. IdeaSprint names early-stage founders separately from student teams, and Pre-Incubation, Startup Clinic and incubation all describe founders and startups generally, with no institution, geography or category gate written anywhere. Against that, the university's entrepreneurship centre page states that its own students and faculty are eligible to apply for its courses, incubation and innovation challenges — which reads narrower. The site never says whether your company must be incorporated, and it never says outside founders are excluded from incubation. If you are not from the university, treat the question as open and ask before you invest time in an application.

The incubation programme says it is discipline-agnostic and encourages interdisciplinary teams, and it is aimed at startups that already have a validated concept rather than a bare idea. Idea-stage teams are pointed to pre-incubation instead.

How to apply

There is a real gap here. AIC Mahindra publishes no application form, no portal and no contact inbox of its own. The Startup Pathways section on its page is tabbed text with no links behind it, and the one apply-shaped button on the older e-Hub page is broken — it points at a malformed address that goes nowhere. The only published contact details anywhere are Mahindra University's own switchboard and general enquiries inbox. Until the centre publishes a call, going through the university's general contact route or approaching the centre's team directly is the practical option.

Facilities

Startups sit on the Mahindra University campus. The centre lists shared co-working space, dedicated private cabins, an innovation and prototyping lab, meeting rooms with AV, a creative brainstorming zone, an advanced AR/VR lab, and high-speed internet and printing. Through the campus it also names a robotics lab, an EV lab, a supercomputer lab, life science labs and a makers lab. Those are university facilities founders get access to, not equipment the incubator owns.

One caution on size: the centre gives two different figures for its own floor area on two of its own pages, several times apart, against the same capacity of 15 entrepreneurs. Neither figure can be treated as settled.

Scale

AIC Mahindra says 38+ startups are in its programmes; the CEI page gives the same figure as startups incubated. That is the centre's own undated count and we have not verified it. Named startups on its incubation page include Favo Construction Technologies, which is building a mobile robotic system for concrete 3D printing, bricklaying, plastering and painting; Madi Tech Solutions, which makes EV chargers, solar inverters, DC home management systems and online UPS products; Yumploy, a platform for verified professional fact sheets and background checks; and SpoofSense, which builds face anti-spoofing technology for identity verification and has run pilots with identity verification platforms.

Who runs it

Ismail Akbani is Chief Executive Officer of AIC Mahindra and Sreeparna Chowdhury is Incubation Manager. Rajkumar Phatate heads the university's Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, which the centre sits inside. The centre also lists around twenty named mentors and experts with their affiliations, including investors, ecosystem heads and Mahindra University faculty.

Location and contact

The centre operates from Mahindra University, Survey No: 62/1A, Bahadurpally, Jeedimetla, Hyderabad 500043, Telangana. There is one location. Jobs at the university are listed on its careers page, and the university's events listing carries campus events; the centre does not run separate careers or events pages of its own.
