What you get, who can apply and how to apply

NIDHI-PRAYAS is a Department of Science and Technology programme, run through SCTIMST-TIMed, for converting an idea into a physical prototype. It is aimed at idea-stage entrepreneurs whose product needs prototyping.

Who can apply

Individual innovators without a startup, and co-founders of an early-stage start-up. Applicants must be Indian citizens aged 18 or above. Start-up applicants must be incorporated in India, with majority Indian equity and a turnover ceiling set out in the scheme rules. Software-only, e-commerce, service and app-based projects are not covered.

What you get

Grant support to build a prototype, with physical infrastructure, technical guidance and business mentorship. Grant support is for selected applicants. Intellectual property generated vests with the innovator or the start-up.

How selection works: a proposal is assessed on innovativeness, roadmap, market potential, social relevance, team composition and the potential to form a company.

NIDHI SSS seed support for TIMed incubatees

Fund

Early-stage seed financing for start-ups incubated at TIMed, under DST's NIDHI Seed Support System.

Best for: Start-ups already incubated at TIMed that need early-stage funding.

What you get, who can apply and how to apply

Seed support under the NIDHI Seed Support System, managed by a Seed Support Management Committee. It is available to start-ups physically incubated at TIMed.

Who can apply

Indian start-ups registered in India, with at least 3 months of residency at TIMed and at least 51% Indian promoter shareholding. Indian subsidiaries of foreign companies do not qualify.

What it can fund

Product development, testing and trials, test marketing, mentoring, professional consultancy, IPR issues and manpower for day-to-day operations.

Form of support

The committee decides the structure of each award. The site lists debt or soft loan, quasi-equity, equity, or another structure the committee approves.

KTU Minor in Entrepreneurship (student programme)

Programme

TIMed is one of five incubators empanelled by KTU to run its Minor in Entrepreneurship.

Best for: B.Tech students at KTU who want entrepreneurship training.

The Minor in Entrepreneurship is for students interested in entrepreneurial activity. Students in Semester 4 can opt in by earning 12 additional credits through three or four courses. On completion, KTU issues a certificate for the Minor alongside the B.Tech degree.
