The core programme. Applications for the Winter 2027 batch are open as we write; that batch runs from January to March in San Francisco. On-time applications close on 2 November at 8pm Pacific time, and applicants who make that deadline get a decision by 11 December. Interviews are mostly held by video call in November and December. Four batches run each year — winter, spring, summer and fall.

Who can apply

- Idea stage upwards; YC says around forty per cent of each batch is funded on an idea alone and that it can probably help any startup that has not raised a Series A
- Solo founders are accepted, though YC advises finding a co-founder
- The founding team should be able to build the product itself rather than outsource it
- Founders must work on the company full time during the batch and be in San Francisco for it
- Nothing needs to be in place to apply: no incorporation, no United States entity, no visa, no business licence

How selection works: One online application per batch, considered equally with every other — YC says no introduction is needed. Promising applicants are invited to interview, mostly by video call. Decisions usually come the same day as the interview, and everyone who interviews gets detailed feedback. Applicants not invited to interview get none. Late applications are still read, without a promised reply date.
How to apply: Submit the online application on YC's apply page before the deadline. Students who want to finish their degree first can use Early Decision — pick a batch after the current one on the application and say which one you want; if accepted you are funded straight away and your place is held.
