About CIED On-Campus Incubation

The on-campus track puts your team inside the incubation centre at CTR Ludhiana. Support runs from workspace and equipment through mentoring to help with intellectual property, and admission is by written application followed by a presentation to an evaluation committee.

What you get

  • Office space at the incubation centre, with standard furniture and an internet line of your own
  • Up to two computers on a rental basis; more can be arranged at market rates
  • A printer, photocopier and document scanner in common use, and a meeting room with projection equipment and tele- or video-conferencing facilities
  • A phone line, whose rentals and bills the incubatee pays
  • Mentoring on request, free of charge, from CTR faculty first, with an outside mentor brought in when needed
  • Support for interns, and regular meetings with the incubator team
  • Help with intellectual property; accounting, legal and management experts can be brought in, and any direct service they provide is paid for by the incubatee to that professional
  • Where CTR norms allow, access to CTR's infrastructure and laboratories
  • One accommodation for a director or promoter depending on availability, and one hostel room next to the incubation centre

Who can apply

  • A prospective incubatee with a business idea, from idea stage through to a product or service already in the market
  • The form asks for the inventor's year of study or graduation and the organisation type: academic, a private limited company, or a startup
  • No published rule restricts applicants to CTR students or alumni

How selection works: Submit the application form, then present to an evaluation committee for at least half an hour and answer their questions. The published criteria are the product idea on its technology content, innovation, timeliness and market potential, the core team's profile, the presentation, intellectual-property potential, financial and commercial viability, the funds required, time to market, break-even period, demand in India and scalability.

How to apply: Fill in the application form on the admission pages, and send it with a PAN card, passport-size photographs of all promoters, ID proof of the promoters and permanent address proof. The pages give the contact address as info@ctrludhiana.com and also as info@ctrludhiana.org on the incubation contact page.

On-campus incubatees may be asked to sign an incubation agreement, a seed-fund agreement if they take seed funding, and a technology commercialization agreement if they use CTR technology or intellectual property. The seed-fund agreement sets rules of disbursement and repayment; no amount or eligibility is published. Incubatees graduate after two years, and earlier if the company passes published turnover or profit thresholds, raises substantial outside investment, or grows past twenty employees. A change of more than half of the equity ownership needs prior approval.
