About PMMSY hatchery and nursery components
These components support entrepreneurs and private firms that set up a new freshwater finfish, freshwater scampi, brackish water or small marine finfish hatchery, or a marine finfish nursery. The beneficiary builds and runs the unit.
What you get
- Assistance as a share of the unit cost, higher for SC/ST and women beneficiaries
- The rest of the cost is met by a bank loan or your own funds
Who can apply
- Entrepreneurs and private firms, among other listed beneficiary classes
- Applicants with land free of encumbrances
- A freshwater finfish hatchery must meet a stated minimum capacity and area
- The beneficiary must supply seed from the assisted hatchery to farmers at an affordable price
How to apply: File a detailed project report, or a self-contained proposal for a marine nursery, with land documents, bank consent or a self-declaration for your share, and the necessary clearances. Proposals go through the fisheries department of your State or Union Territory, which sends them to the National Fisheries Development Board and the central Department. Intake windows and current unit costs are not published in a form we could confirm, so check with the State department.
