NIDHI-PRAYAS

NIDHI-PRAYAS (Promoting and Accelerating Young and Aspiring technology entrepreneurs) is a national DST-NIDHI scheme that STBI runs locally through its own fabrication lab, branded the STBI PRAYAS Shala. It is currently between intakes — its last published call closed on 6 April 2025.

What you get

• A proof-of-concept grant for converting an idea or innovation into a working prototype
• Access to STBI's fab lab (3D printers, 3D scanner, laser cutting and engraving, PCB milling and drilling, and basic electronics and mechanical tools), plus working space, technical guidance and business mentorship
• Selected applicants are called 'PRAYASEEs'

Who can apply

• Individual innovators aged 18 or older without an existing startup, or early founders
• The idea must be technology- or science-based, and must not have already crossed the prototype stage
• The applicant must own the project's IP/knowhow, or have the right to use it
• The prototype must be achievable within 12 months, and priority areas include manufacturing, agriculture, healthcare, clean-tech, energy, water and IoT

How selection works: Applications are screened on the strength of the idea, its potential for commercialisation, and the applicant's team capability; screening takes about six to eight weeks, and only shortlisted applicants are called for a final presentation.
