About the^delta prize
the^delta prize runs outcome-linked challenges instead of a standing cohort. Each one starts with sector research, which becomes a problem statement with measurable thresholds; organisations then apply, run the work in the field, and are judged on results. Its stated themes are micro, small and medium enterprise, the future of women in work, and climate and livelihoods.
Two challenges were running at the time of writing, both with applications closed. The rapid re.gen challenge asks for transition models that double soil organic carbon within twenty-four months and raise smallholder net incomes by at least a quarter across a cluster of five thousand hectares; applications closed on 2 August, with five to eight challengers to be onboarded in October or November. The aahaar bazaar challenge asks for solutions that help home-based women food entrepreneurs make market-ready products and sell beyond their neighbourhood, with eight to ten challengers picked by a jury of gender and livelihood experts. Earlier challenges were run with Ashirvad, Cisco and DCM Shriram.
What you get
- Milestone-linked grants, with a further grant for winners at the finale.
- One-to-one mentorship from sector practitioners across the length of the challenge.
- Introductions to philanthropy, corporate social responsibility and impact-investor partners.
- Ecosystem access to government bodies, academia, research institutions and media.
- Masterclasses, demo days and visibility.
Who can apply
- Eligibility is set per challenge, so read the challenge page. The aahaar bazaar challenge accepted both for-profit and non-profit organisations, the latter with a valid FCRA licence.
- The rapid re.gen challenge is an open call for nonprofits and civil society organisations, and requires registration as a Section 8 company with valid CSR-1, 12A and 80G certificates.
- Partnership models are welcome on rapid re.gen, but the application must be led by an eligible nonprofit.
How selection works: an application, then a pitch deck or detailed submission from shortlisted organisations, then evaluation by a jury of sector experts, with field diligence on the agriculture challenge.
How to apply: from the individual challenge page while its call is open. Questions go to prize@thedelta.org.in.
