About Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (IEDC)
The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre was set up in July 2013 for up to five years, with support from the Department of Science and Technology. The centre is meant to build an entrepreneurial culture among students and faculty. Its pages describe it as backing five student innovative projects every year with seed money, and the site describes the centre as acting as an angel investor for those projects. Whether equity is taken is not stated.
What you get
- Seed money for selected student projects.
- Guidance from an advisory board of industry, research and government representatives.
Who can apply
- Students and faculty of the institute with innovation-driven technology proposals.
How selection works: student projects are first scrutinised by an in-house committee, then forwarded to the IEDC advisory committee.
