About Incubation at V-NEST

V-NEST incubates startups continuously rather than in dated cohorts, so there is no deadline to wait for. Its own answer on who can apply is that anyone with a viable startup idea or an early-stage startup may do so, and its published list of incubated companies includes external founders alongside student, alumni and faculty teams. Incubation is free of charge.

What you get

  • Mentorship from academics, industry people and wider networks
  • Coworking space, labs and maker facilities on the VIT Chennai campus
  • Office space and access to the institution's infrastructure
  • Seed support with credit linkage and introductions to investors
  • Guidance on building the product, and help preparing your pitch and testing proposals before investors see them
  • Free or discounted access to development tools
  • Research assistance, consultancy and collaboration with VIT faculty

Who can apply

  • Anyone with a viable idea or an early-stage startup, by V-NEST's own statement
  • Students, faculty and alumni of VIT Chennai, and founders from outside the university
  • Teams at the idea or prototype stage are the stated focus of the early-stage route
  • No incorporation, state or category requirement is published

How selection works: three stages, each reviewed before the next opens. First an abstract of the idea — problem, solution, market, advantage, impact. Then a full plan with market analysis, business model and revenue, three-to-five-year projections, team, sales and marketing, risks and growth. Last, a pitch of fifteen to twenty minutes to a panel of mentors and investors, with questions afterwards. Any stage can be sent back for revision.

How to apply: V-NEST points applicants at a form on its own site, but that form cannot submit today, so send your abstract to vnest@vit.ac.in or director.vnest@vit.ac.in, say which stage you are at, and ask for a pitch slot. Slots run on weekdays between 9am and 6pm and are confirmed within a day.
