The Sustainability Hackathon 2026, organized by the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay–Honeywell Centre of Excellence for Future Skills & Innovation (IHCFSI), is a multi-phase competition designed to unearth creative and impactful sustainability solutions from students and early-stage innovators across India. The IHCFSI, envisioned as a national platform, aims to accelerate sustainability-driven transformation through skill development, research, entrepreneurship, and ecosystem engagement. This hackathon serves as a crucial component of this vision, inviting participants to address real-world challenges in diverse areas like Clean Energy, Agriculture, Healthcare, Water & Wastewater, Circular Economy, Sustainable Mobility, and Waste Management.
Participants will have a unique opportunity to present their ideas, demonstrate prototypes, and develop solutions aligned with critical emerging sustainability priorities. The program emphasizes the development of solutions through product innovation, policy recommendations, and process improvements, leveraging technology, research, and entrepreneurial spirit. Beyond the competition, the hackathon is committed to strengthening participant capacity through structured mentorship, fostering a robust industry-academia innovation ecosystem, and identifying promising startup ideas with the potential for significant societal benefit.

चयन प्रक्रिया
The selection process for the Sustainability Hackathon 2026 is structured in multiple phases. Initial applications, consisting of idea submissions, will undergo a thorough screening process by a panel of experts. Following this, shortlisted teams will be invited to submit a detailed pitch deck. These pitch decks will then be rigorously evaluated by a jury comprising faculty from IIT Bombay and industry experts, assessing the innovation, scalability, impact, and feasibility of the proposed solutions. The highest-scoring teams from this evaluation phase will proceed to the mentorship stage and ultimately to the Grand Finale, where they will present their developed solutions and prototypes to a grand jury.
