AKS University, Satna is a university in Satna, Madhya Pradesh. It was established by the state government through Act No. 44 of 2011 and is promoted by the Rajiv Gandhi Group of Institutions.

The university runs two incubation units. The first is the AKSU MSME Business Incubation Center, which says its purpose is to create jobs locally and to build a favourable setting for entrepreneurship. The second is the BIRAC E-YUVA Center in the Faculty of Life Science and Technology, which describes itself as incubating bio startups.

How the incubators work

The MSME Business Incubation Center describes three aims: setting up business incubators so that eligible youth can be incubated in various skills, giving entrepreneurship and skill training to youth, and providing mentoring, hand-holding and help to find funding. Its stated services include mentoring on business and technology plans, networking with business resources, identifying appropriate technology, project and product selection, project report preparation, credit facilitation and marketing assistance.

The BIRAC E-YUVA Center lists dedicated office space, IT infrastructure, mentor support, laboratory access, library facilities, expert workshops on financing, legal aspects and IP services, prototype and MVP development support, business development support, and free help to approach angel investors. It is supported by the Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council and is associated with the BioNEST Center at CSIR-IITR and the Venture Center at CSIR-NCL Pune.

Who can apply

The incubation pages do not state who may join. The MSME centre says its board sets the membership criteria and terms, including space utilisation fees, and that it screens applications from prospective members before selecting them. Whether founders from outside the university or outside Madhya Pradesh can apply is not stated.

Recognition

The university's incubation page says it is a selected Host Institute (HI/BI) for the MSME scheme. The page gives no date for this selection. The university is also recognised by the University Grants Commission under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act.

Activity so far

The MSME centre reports that its MSME Idea Hackathon in April 2022 had 30 participants, of whom 14 ideas were recommended by the committee. It also reports taking part in the Smart City Satna Hackathon, where it showed biotechnology products and startups, and in the Madhya Pradesh Startup Conclave in Indore in 2022. These are the centre's own figures, and no independent count is available.
