Aryabhatta College is a co-educational constituent college of the University of Delhi, on Benito Juarez Road, New Delhi. It runs a student Entrepreneurship Cell, a student Startup Club and a small Incubation Centre. These are campus programmes for the college's own students; there is no open application for outside founders.

About the college

The college site says it is directly maintained by the University of Delhi and describes its location as adjacent to the University's South Campus. It teaches Humanities, Arts, Science and Commerce courses at undergraduate level, and says around 2,200 students are on its rolls. The Aryabhatta name dates from the 2014-15 session. The college was formerly Ram Lal Anand College (Evening), which it says was established in 1973.

The Incubation Centre

The Incubation Centre sits under the college Entrepreneurship Cell. On 5 January 2022 the college signed an MOU with the Atal Incubation Centre-JNU Foundation for Innovation (AIC-JNUFI) at the JNU campus. The MOU follows a hub-and-spoke model: the aim is to support startups and run entrepreneurship awareness programmes in the local ecosystem. A faculty Head and a faculty Coordinator lead the centre.

A meeting record from 12 July 2023 shows how the link was meant to work. JNU committed to a two-month entrepreneurship programme starting in mid-August for the centre's students, and the centre's representatives agreed to send JNU written business plans from those students by mid-August. That is the most recent dated record we found for the centre. The college site publishes no intake, application form, cohort dates or eligibility rules for it.

The Entrepreneurship Cell

The Entrepreneurship Cell was earlier called ENSO, The Entrepreneurial Society. It says it works through hand-holding programmes, business plan competitions, financial workshops, social entrepreneurship events and youth conclaves. Its annual two-day flagship, E-Summit, ran on 8 and 9 April 2024 in its latest report we could read. The cell also runs The High Table, an inter-college boardroom simulation in which teams solve corporate business cases in front of a panel of judges, with teams from colleges such as IIT Roorkee, IIT Delhi and NSUT Delhi. Other events include a case competition called Innothon, Global Entrepreneurship Week sessions and an annual magazine, The Front Factor.

In May and June 2024 the cell ran an online programme with Swan Livelihood for rural women micro-entrepreneurs. Its own report records more than 60 beneficiaries and 26 college student volunteers.

The Startup Club

Swavalamban - The Startup Club is a student-run club formed in October 2019. It says it was set up under the guidance of the Wadhwani Foundation and SIDBI. Its stated aim is to place students on real projects with young startups, such as digital marketing, web design and research. It has departments for Marketing, Finance, Design, Content and Operations.

Who can take part

The Incubation Centre and the Startup Club are for Aryabhatta College students. Some Entrepreneurship Cell events, such as E-Summit and The High Table, take teams from other colleges. The college site names no sector or stage focus for any of these.
