The Accelerator: India programme is for startups building core AI products or foundational models — agentic, multimodal, reasoning and other generative AI applications. It runs as a hybrid programme with a mix of virtual and in-person sessions, and each cohort brings together 10 to 15 startups. The 2026 edition kicked off in June 2026 and graduated in September 2026. Applications for that edition closed on 19 April 2026, and founders can register interest for future programmes.

How selection works: Applications are checked for eligibility as they arrive. A panel of experts and the programme team shortlist 40 to 60 startups for an interview and pitch session that evaluates the team, problem, solution and scalability, and a selection board then picks the final startups.

It was built for non-technical and creative founders, and for people exploring entrepreneurship, to ideate, design and validate prototypes using prompt-based tools in AI Studio — Gemini, Nano Banana, Imagen and Veo. The best submissions were invited to a Build the Future showcase in January 2026. The edition has finished; its sessions can be watched on demand.

Startups that are not yet backed with equity funding and startups that already are apply through different tiers. AI startups also get dedicated AI training and webinars. The programme is global: Google's pages do not set out India-specific terms for it.
