Choosing what to apply to

• Mahindra e-Hub Pre-Incubation Program is for idea-stage founders. It is free, runs in person for 12 weeks, and takes a business idea towards a pitch-ready plan with a financial plan behind it.
• Nothing published describes a second startup programme, so ask the centre what it offers beyond pre-incubation if you are already past idea stage.

How applications work

• Some directory listings give the website as aicmahindra.org, which does not resolve. The centre's own pages sit on the Mahindra University website.

What to ask before you accept a place

These do not appear in what is published, so raise them early:

• Whether the centre takes equity, and whether anything is charged for the programme or for space.
• Whether any support includes grant or seed funding, and on what terms.
• How access to the university labs is scheduled.
• Whether mentoring and the rest of the support continue after the 12 weeks.

AIC Mahindra e-Hub Foundation is the Atal Incubation Centre established by Mahindra University and supported by the Atal Innovation Mission at NITI Aayog, Government of India. It supports early-stage startups, combining mentoring and workspace with access to the university's engineering and science laboratories. Its stated help covers intellectual property, finance, networking and software tools as well.

How programmes work

Its pre-incubation programme takes idea-stage founders through 12 weeks of hands-on training. It is free and runs in person. The framework is structured rather than open-ended: interactive and instructional sessions, skill-building, and techniques for validating and refining a business idea so that it comes out pitch-ready, with a solid financial plan behind it. The 2023 edition started on 10 June.

Applicants put a business idea forward, and the top applicants are selected. The 2023 edition has closed, and no current intake has been announced.

Who operates the programme is not fully clear. It is billed under the Mahindra e-Hub name, while the launch was announced by the head of Mahindra University's Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Whether the Foundation itself or the University centre runs it is not settled in what is published.

Alongside startup programmes, the centre works with university faculty. In March 2025 it hosted a faculty development programme that brought together 50 educators and incubation professionals from higher education institutions, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to mentor and support student innovation projects and startup ventures.

Facilities

Startups get office and co-working space, and software tools. The larger draw is Mahindra University's own technical infrastructure, which startups can use: the Maker Lab, the Robotics Lab, the EV Lab, the Supercomputer Lab and the Life Science Labs. These are the university's facilities rather than the centre's own build, which matters when you are planning work around equipment.

Beyond space and labs, the centre lists mentoring, help with intellectual property, financial help and networking opportunities among the assistance it provides to startups.

Who runs it

A March 2025 press release named Ismail Akbani as CEO of AIC Mahindra and principal coordinator of the faculty programme, Sreeparna Chowdhury as incubation manager and co-coordinator, and Dr Rajkumar Phatate as head of Mahindra University's Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Those roles are as reported at the time and may have changed since.
