आवेदन कैसे काम करते हैं

इनक्यूबेटर तीनों में से किसी भी कार्यक्रम के लिए आवेदन फ़ॉर्म, इनटेक कैलेंडर या अंतिम तिथि प्रकाशित नहीं करता। उसकी साइट चयन मार्ग केवल एक प्रक्रिया-प्रवाह आरेख के रूप में दिखाती है। इसलिए व्यावहारिक पहला कदम है इनक्यूबेटर को लिखना, बताना कि आपको लगता है आप किस कार्यक्रम में फ़िट होते हैं और आप किस चरण में हैं, और पूछना कि क्या कोई कॉल खुली है।

किसकी तैयारी करना उपयोगी है

• कृषि या सहायक क्षेत्र में आप जिस समस्या को हल कर रहे हैं, उसका एक पेज का विवरण।

CIRCOT R-ABI is the RKVY-RAFTAAR Agri Business Incubator run by ICAR-CIRCOT, the Central Institute for Research on Cotton Technology, on its campus at Adenwala Road, Matunga East, Mumbai. The RKVY Division of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare designated CIRCOT as an agri business incubator under the RKVY-RAFTAAR scheme from 31 January 2019, and the incubator says it is one of 29 RKVY-RAFTAAR agri business incubators in the country. It backs startups across agriculture and allied sectors, not only cotton.

It is worth separating two units at the same institute, because their names are almost identical. CIRCOT R-ABI, described here, is the RKVY-RAFTAAR wing set up in 2019 and has its own site at circotrabi.in. The ICAR-CIRCOT Agri Business Incubation (ABI) Centre is an older, separately funded unit at the same address, sanctioned under ICAR's National Agricultural Innovation Fund, whose work centres on cotton-based technologies such as antimicrobial textile finishing, cottonseed meal and nanocellulose. The two share the institute, the campus and much of the same scientific team.

How programmes work

The incubator runs a ladder of three programmes under RKVY-RAFTAAR, each pitched at a different stage. ARAMBH, the Student Entrepreneurship Programme, supports startups at the ideation stage and is meant to take an idea as far as a proof of concept. UDAY is the pre-seed programme, aimed at turning an innovative idea into a working prototype. ANKUR is the seed programme, for startups that already have a minimum viable product and want to commercialise it or scale up. All three are grant programmes: selected startups receive grant-in-aid rather than investment, and the incubator's own pages do not mention taking equity.

The About page describes UDAY and ANKUR as the two operational programmes under the scheme, while ARAMBH has its own page describing it as operating under the same scheme. Each programme page carries a short description and a process-flow diagram, and none of them publishes eligibility rules, selection criteria or a deadline in text.

Who can apply

The incubator says its platform is open to graduates, rural youth and farmers who want to take an innovative idea in agriculture and allied sectors to market. It does not limit itself to students of the host institute, and it does not state a Maharashtra-only or other geographic restriction. Nor does it publish an incorporation requirement, a company-age limit or a category gate anywhere on its site. What decides which programme fits is how far along you are: an idea for ARAMBH, an idea heading for a prototype for UDAY, a minimum viable product ready to commercialise for ANKUR.

Because none of this is written down in full, anyone seriously considering applying should ask the incubator directly what the current eligibility and intake position is before doing any work.

Facilities

The incubator says it has laboratories with analytical instruments that startups can use to test how their innovation actually performs, along with incubation and office space and digital infrastructure. Its services page separately lists co-working space and lab support. These sit on the ICAR-CIRCOT campus, so the equipment a startup reaches through the incubator is largely the institute's.

Alongside space and lab access, the services page lists mentorship, early stage funding, legal counselling, networking, investor connect, IP counselling and technology transfer. The incubator also publishes recordings of expert sessions it has run, on subjects such as growth strategies for agri-tech startups, IP management from a startup's point of view, and how to commercialise an innovation.

Scale

The incubator's homepage publishes a set of counters: 116 startups trained under its pre-seed and seed programmes, 51 startups incubated, 22 prototypes developed, more than 200 jobs generated, more than ten pieces of intellectual property generated by its startups, more than 90 one-on-one mentoring sessions and more than 55 expert lectures. These are the incubator's own figures and none of them carries a date, so treat them as a self-reported snapshot rather than an audited record.

Eleven cohort pages list the agri startups funded under the pre-seed and seed programmes, but each page is a single image, so the names of the startups backed are not readable as text and we do not reproduce them. The portfolio page on the site has not been filled in.

Who runs it

The team page lists the Director of ICAR-CIRCOT, Dr. S. K. Shukla, at the top, with Dr. Ashok Kumar Bharimalla as Chief Executive Officer and Dr. C. Sundaramoorthy as co-project in-charge. The rest of the team is made up of ICAR-CIRCOT scientists and technical officers drawn from the institute's research divisions, which is what a startup working here gets access to.

Other programmes at the same institute

ICAR-CIRCOT also acts as the hub institute for KSHITIJ, a pan-India startup incubation programme in farm mechanisation and post-harvest technology, supported by ICAR's IP&TM unit under the National Agricultural Innovation Fund, with five ICAR institutes as spokes. That programme runs through the institute's ABI Centre rather than through the R-ABI, and its last published application date has passed.

Location and how to reach them

CIRCOT R-ABI is at Adenwala Rd, Matunga East, Mumbai, Maharashtra 400019. The site's contact page gives a phone number and an enquiry form; a second phone number appears in the site footer. There is no online application portal and no open-call page, so a first approach means contacting the incubator. The incubator has no careers page of its own — the parent institute posts its vacancies on the ICAR-CIRCOT website.
