These are NABARD's own published figures and they belong to the nine Rural Business Incubation Centres it funds, not to an intake NABARD runs. NABARD also reports 15 startups supported under its Rural Startup Catalytic Capital scheme in 2024-25, 79 rural enterprise producer organisations promoted to 31 March 2025, and support for 464 products towards geographical indication registration, of which 138 have been registered.

Only the AgriSURE Direct Scheme takes an approach from a startup. The Fund-of-Funds scheme and the AIF window are for fund managers, and the Agri Clinic and Agri Business Centres scheme is the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare's scheme with NABARD as the subsidy channel — you apply through a bank. NABARD's incubation centres and its Rural Startup Catalytic Capital scheme have no published founder-facing application route at all; you reach them through a centre.

AgriSURE is a fund set up by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and NABARD and registered with SEBI as a Category-II Alternative Investment Fund. It has two schemes; this is the one that invests straight into companies. NABVENTURES Ltd, a company NABARD owns outright, manages it. There is no window or deadline — it invests as it finds companies.
What you get
- An equity investment, taken as equity, compulsorily convertible preference shares or another equity-related instrument.
- The scheme says it may reinvest in companies that do well, in later rounds.
- Nothing is charged for applying.
Who can apply
- Startups recognised by DPIIT and incorporated in India. The scheme states it invests only in these.
- Work in agriculture, allied activities or the rural economy. The fund names agritech, food processing, animal husbandry, fisheries, supply chain, farm mechanisation, biotechnology, waste management, renewable energy, the agri value chain, support for farmer producer organisations, farm-level technology and climate change.
How selection works: The fund shows an indicative investment process on its page but does not publish the steps in readable form. Treat it as an equity investor's diligence.
How to apply: Write to NABVENTURES at agrisure@nabard.org. The fund has published a notice warning that people presenting themselves as its agents and asking for money are not acting for it, and that nothing is charged for seeking assistance.

This scheme does not invest in companies. It puts money into other funds, which then invest in startups. It is here so you can tell it apart from the Direct Scheme, which is the one you can approach.
Who can apply
- SEBI-registered Category I and Category II alternative investment funds, sector-agnostic or sector-specific.
- The fund has to be incorporated in India and invest in equity, equity-related instruments or debt securities.
- Sector-agnostic funds are required to put a set number of startups, or a set amount, into the scheme's preferred sectors.
How to apply: The fund's single published contact is NABVENTURES at agrisure@nabard.org. If you are a founder, this is not your route — look at the Direct Scheme instead, or raise from a fund this scheme has backed.
NABARD's standing route for committing money to agri and rural funds — the applicant is a fund manager, never a startup.

NABARD contributes to professionally managed, SEBI-registered alternative investment funds with exposure to agriculture and the rural sector, under Section 26 of the NABARD Act, 1981. It is often mistaken for a startup route. It is not one: a startup reaches this money only by raising from a fund NABARD has backed.
Who can apply
- The fund must be registered under the SEBI Alternative Investment Fund Regulations, 2012, in Category I or II.
- It must have a life of no more than ten years from first closing.
- The businesses it backs should preferably sit in rural areas as the NABARD Act defines them; if not, what they make or do has to benefit rural areas directly or indirectly.
- NABARD requires twice the amount of its commitment to be invested in enterprises working for agriculture and rural development, with a penalty on any shortfall.
- Earlier funds by the same manager must have finished their commitment period, or deployed most of their corpus.
- First and second funds are treated as new funds and carry extra conditions on outside commitments, key management experience and first closing.
How selection works: Proposals go to an investment committee. A manager has to send the SEBI registration certificate, the private placement memorandum, past performance details certified by a chartered accountant, commitment letters from other investors, and details of investments made and deals in the pipeline. A non-refundable processing fee is payable before the proposal is placed.

This is not NABARD's scheme. The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare runs it and NABARD acts as the subsidy channelling agency, which means the subsidy it receives from the ministry is passed on to the bank that lends to you. It is open on a rolling basis and NABARD publishes the list of beneficiaries each year.

- A bank loan for the venture.
- A credit-linked, back-ended composite subsidy, released to your bank.
Who can apply
- Graduates in agriculture and allied subjects from state or central agricultural universities, or universities recognised by ICAR or UGC. Degrees from other agencies may be considered with state government recommendation.
- Diploma or post-graduate diploma holders in agriculture and allied subjects with at least 50 per cent marks, from state agricultural universities, state agriculture and allied departments or the state department of technical education.
- Biological science graduates with a post-graduation in agriculture and allied subjects.
- Holders of UGC-recognised degree courses, or diploma and post-graduate diploma courses after a BSc in biological sciences, where more than 60 per cent of the course content is agriculture and allied subjects.
- Holders of agriculture-related courses at intermediate level with at least 55 per cent marks.
How to apply: Take the loan application form NABARD publishes for the scheme to a financing bank, along with a project plan. Read the revised guidelines and the later compendium of instructions on the same page before you build the plan — they carry the current conditions.
