What Peak XV Partners reports about its portfolio.
Every figure on this page is the firm's own, undated and self-reported. Surge's numbers cover Surge only; the firm-wide counts cover Peak XV as a whole. The two are not interchangeable.
All figures self-reported — surge.peakxv.com, as of 2026.
Programmes they run
Standing programmes at Peak XV Partners, separate from the funding calls above.
Surge is the only programme at Peak XV a founder can apply to, and it is open year-round. The main Peak XV site carries no pitch form — outside Surge, the only published channel is its general enquiry inbox. Spark, the firm's women-founder platform, is named on an old page about the 2023 rebrand but has no page of its own on either site today, so it is not written up here.
Surge
PlatformPeak XV's seed platform — an equity investment plus hands-on operator support, open to applications year-round.
Best for: Founders raising a seed round, including those still at idea or pre-launch stage, in any sector.
- Idea – Early revenue
- Open-ended — Surge says there is no end date to the platform access; the structured part is an eight-week Immersion once a year
- Hybrid
- Free, takes equity
What you get, who can apply and how to applyHide details
Surge started in 2019 and is how Peak XV does its seed investing. It is an equity investment, not a paid programme and not a grant, and Surge says it does not take board seats at the early stage. It also says it welcomes co-investors and does not require exclusivity.
The site describes Surge two ways at once and both are true of different halves of it. The money is always-on: no cohort windows, and Surge says that when a founder is ready, it moves. The community is cohort-shaped: eleven numbered cohorts have their own pages, and once a year the cohort comes together for an eight-week Immersion that ends in San Francisco with visits to companies the site names as NVIDIA, OpenAI, Google and Notion.
What you get
- Seed capital from Peak XV as an equity investment, with co-investors welcome.
- A dedicated investment partner from day one, who sets and tracks sixteen-week goals with you.
- Operator support across hiring, product, engineering, go-to-market, marketing, communications and policy, and expansion into new markets.
- One-to-one office hours with specialists in technology, recruiting, marketing, finance, legal and compliance, and fundraising.
- An annual eight-week Immersion ending in San Francisco.
- The wider founder community — city and sector meetups, reunions, an app and online events, with a community team that makes introductions.
- Access to follow-on capital from Peak XV as the company grows.
Who can apply
- Any founding team. Surge publishes no incorporation rule, no geography rule and no category rule.
- Idea-stage and pre-launch founders are explicitly invited; Surge says it is never too early to apply.
- Any sector. Asked whether it only invests in artificial intelligence, Surge says no, and names skincare, eSIMs and quantum computing among its own companies.
- The form does ask for a company name and the country the company is registered in, so it assumes an entity exists.
How selection works: applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Surge says it weighs the strength of the founder or founding team, the size of the market opportunity, and, for companies that have already launched, early signs of customer love through engagement, retention and product usage — with a heavy weight on founder-market fit.
How to apply: fill the form on the Surge site. It runs to about twenty-one questions across ten pages, takes roughly twenty-five minutes, and can be saved and resumed. It asks for co-founder details, a one-line description, the problem, what is unique, why your team, lifecycle stage, traction metrics, and a link to your deck or demo — Dropbox or Google Slides only, with permissions set so anyone can access it. References are optional. Surge says it will get back to you within two to three weeks. You can also write to contactus@peakxv.com.
Future Founders Fellowship
FellowshipA summer fellowship placing students from six named institutions inside a Peak XV portfolio company in Bangalore for eight weeks — its published application window has closed.
Best for: Students in their second to fourth year at six named institutions — not founders.
- 8 weeks
- In person
- Free, no equity
With IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, BITS Pilani (Pilani Campus)
What you get, who can apply and how to applyHide details
This is a student programme, not a route for founders, and it is listed here so it is not mistaken for one. Fellows spend eight weeks in Bangalore, full-time and in person, working inside one of Peak XV's portfolio companies, with a monthly stipend. Every Friday the cohort comes together with Peak XV founders, operators and investors for sessions and company visits.
Who can apply
- Students currently in their second to fourth year, with a stated bias toward second and third years.
- Only at six institutions Peak XV names as partners for the first cohort: IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur and BITS Pilani (Pilani Campus).
- You must be available full-time in Bangalore for the eight weeks.
How selection works: you apply, the team reads every application, shortlisted candidates have conversations with the Surge team, and an offer follows. Peak XV says the cohort is picked from hundreds of applicants.
How to apply: the page is still up and still shows an Apply button, but its own schedule puts the close of applications before this page was last checked, so the published window has passed. Watch the page for the next intake. Note the page gives two different end months for the same eight weeks, so treat its dates as approximate.

How to apply to Peak XV Partners
Which route is actually open
Surge is the only programme at Peak XV with a live application form, and it is open year-round. If you are raising a seed round, that is the route. There is no general pitch form on the main Peak XV site — if you are past seed, the only published channel is the firm's general enquiry inbox, contactus@peakxv.com, and a warm introduction through a portfolio founder is likely to travel further than a cold note.
The Future Founders Fellowship is a student programme, not a founder one. It is open only to students in their second to fourth year at six named institutions, and its published application window has already closed. Do not apply to it as a founder.
How the application works
Expect a single online form of around twenty-one questions across ten pages. Surge says it takes about twenty-five minutes, and you can save and come back to it. Have these ready before you start:
- Your company name, website if you have one, and the country your company is registered in.
- Full details for every co-founder: name, email, phone, LinkedIn and the city they are in.
- A one-sentence description of what the company does, the problem, what is unique about what you are building, and why your team is the right one.
- Where the company sits: idea or prototype, pre-launch or beta, or launched.
- Traction metrics if you have them. If you are pre-launch, the form tells you to write N/A rather than leave it blank.
- A link to your deck, demo, screenshots or a product video. Surge asks specifically for a Dropbox or Google Slides link with permissions set so anyone can access it. A link nobody can open is a wasted application.
- Optionally, references — a senior business leader, teacher, mentor, manager, advisor or investor. Surge says a teacher's reference is fine if you are a student with no prior work history, and that it may contact them if your application goes forward.
Use your own email address, not a shared team inbox — the form says all communication goes to the address you give.
How selection works
Surge says it reviews applications on a rolling basis and gets back within two to three weeks. It describes weighing three things: the founder or founding team, the size of the market, and, for companies that have already launched, early signs that customers actually love the product — engagement, retention, usage.
What reviewers look for
Founder-market fit is the phrase Surge uses most: why this team, specifically, is the one to solve this problem. Two questions on the form exist to answer that directly, and they are the ones worth the most care — what is unique about what you are building, and why you are the right team to build it. There is also an open question about what shaped you and why you are building this now, which is optional in form but is the place a distinctive answer can lift an application.
Being early is not a disqualifier. Surge states plainly that it works with founders at the idea stage and that many of its companies were pre-launch when they applied, so waiting for more traction before applying is not the strategy it asks for.
Sector is not a filter either. The firm says it partners with founders in any sector, and the application's own category list is deliberately broad, so do not rule yourself out on the basis that your area is not one it is known for.
Before you apply
Check the Surge companies list for anything close to what you are building. Surge does not publish a conflict policy, but knowing who in the portfolio is adjacent to you is useful either way. If you have already spoken to someone at Surge, say so — the last question on the form asks, and it exists so you get routed back to whoever already knows you.
