The orientation is for students and young people who have one workable idea based on technology, service or a business platform that can improve efficiency in agriculture or an allied sector. Applicants should be ready to pursue the idea full time and should have an initial business plan or proposal.
The programme runs for two months. Interns receive up to 60 hours of initial training and then work alongside other startups at the incubator while refining their own idea. A batch of 30 is selected by the incubation committee. Interns who finish the orientation can present to the committee and move on to idea-stage funding.

After the orientation, interns who present their progress to the incubation committee can be recommended for idea-stage funding. Up to 20 idea-stage startups per incubator are supported under the scheme.
Grantees must stay registered with the incubator for the whole funding period and must register a company before release, or already be an Indian start-up under the DIPP notification. The grant is for developing a prototype or product, including data work for IT or AI ideas, IP and technology fees, manpower and day-to-day operating costs. SAIP is the seed-stage component for incubated startups that have a minimum viable product based on an innovative agri or allied-sector solution. Funds help the startup launch to market, scale operations and move toward business viability, and they can help attract later investment or bank finance.
Eligibility is set by the page: a registered legal entity in India, at least two months of residency at the incubator, and an Indian start-up that is not a subsidiary of a foreign company. Startups supported once cannot apply for another round of seed support under the scheme. The incubator signs an agreement that links instalments to milestones.
