About Startup Incubation
This is the way in for most founders. Applications are open all year through the centre's own application portal, reached from the Incubation menu and the apply band on its home page. There is no published deadline and no published cohort calendar.
What you get
- Tinkering and maker spaces on the university campus for building prototypes and products.
- Furnished office space, with a choice of coworking desks or a private cabin, computers on a choose-your-own-device basis, telephony, internet, a multi-function printer, a conference room with projection and tele-presence, and pantry and library access.
- Access to the university's laboratories and other resources for development work.
- Legal support on intellectual property, patent filing, trademark registration and copyrights, plus accounting and company secretarial help.
- Mentors and experts from a range of functions and industries.
- Help applying for grants from government bodies or corporate venture arms, and introductions to potential investors. The centre says it may also consider a grant, seed fund or soft loan itself where a scheme allows.
- Regular meetings with industry leaders and introductions to investors, founders and service providers.
Who can apply
- Innovators and startups from the university and from the community around it.
- No stage, sector, incorporation or geography rule is published, and nothing limits it to students of the university.
How to apply: Use the apply link on the centre's home page or in its Incubation menu, or write to acic@bmu.edu.in. The centre does not publish its selection steps, what incubation costs, or whether it takes equity — ask before you commit.
