Atal Community Innovation Centre - Pondicherry University Step-up Hub, called ACIC-PUSH, is the incubation body at Pondicherry University in Kalapet, Puducherry. It was set up with the approval of the university's Executive Council. It is a registered not-for-profit Section 8 company, which makes it a separate legal body from the university even though it sits on the campus.

Who it is for

ACIC-PUSH says it exists to cater to the needs of the students, scholars, faculty, alumni and other associates of Pondicherry University for entrepreneurial activities. That is a campus-linked gate. If you have no connection with the university, the page does not say that you can apply, and you should ask before you plan around it.

What it says it does

The centre describes its work as accelerating business incubation and strategic alliances in various fields at the university. It says it helps turn novel ideas and research innovations of young minds into products and processes that become a socially relevant and viable business. It places itself under the Start-up India programme of the Government of India.

The new building

The centre has its own building on the Pondicherry University campus. The building was inaugurated on 14 August 2025, with the university's Vice-Chancellor as chief guest. The invitation described it as a new home for grassroots entrepreneurship. The circular invited faculty, staff, scholars, students, alumni and other stakeholders to the event.

What is not published

The only page about ACIC-PUSH on the university site is a short overview. It lists no application form, no intake dates, no programme names, no fee or equity terms, no portfolio and no list of facilities or mentors. It does not say when the company was incorporated. Its only contact on the page is the university Registrar's office, which is not an incubator inbox.

The Atal name is the centre's own. The Atal Innovation Mission's published list of Atal Community Innovation Centres, checked in October 2026, does not include Pondicherry University, and that list gives no funding period either. We therefore do not record any Atal recognition for it.

Where to find it

The centre is at R. V. Nagar, Kalapet, Pondicherry 605 014, on the main Pondicherry University campus. The university also runs other student-facing entrepreneurship bodies, such as a start-up club and an entrepreneurship cell. Those are separate from this Section 8 company.
