About this subsidy
The "Employment Incentive" scheme, launched by the Industries and Commerce Department of the Union Territory of Puducherry on April 1, 2017, aims to motivate entrepreneurs to establish industries and provide fiscal assistance. This scheme, operational across the entire UT of Puducherry, offers a significant wage/employment subsidy. Eligible industrial units can receive 20% of the wage/salary, capped at a maximum of ₹5,00,000 per annum, for workers covered under Provident Fund (PF). The subsidy is provided for a period of 5 years in Puducherry and Karaikal regions, and 7 years in Mahe and Yanam regions. It can be disbursed in single or multiple installments, subject to fund availability. For units financed by banks, the subsidy is routed through these financial institutions to adjust against loans or to support additional fixed assets or working capital. Self-financed units receive the subsidy directly from the department. This initiative is designed to foster industrial growth and create employment opportunities within the region by reducing the burden of employment costs for eligible enterprises.
