About TIH IIT Bombay

TIH IIT Bombay — Technology Innovation Hub at IIT Bombay

TIH IIT Bombay (officially the Technology Innovation Hub on Connected Intelligence for Cyber-Physical Systems) is a Government of India initiative established at IIT Bombay under the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NM-ICPS), a flagship mission of the Department of Science & Technology (DST). The hub is dedicated to advancing research, technology development, and startup creation in the domain of Internet of Things (IoT) and Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS).

About the Hub

Located on the IIT Bombay campus in Mumbai, Maharashtra, TIH IIT Bombay operates at the intersection of academia, industry, and entrepreneurship. It brings together researchers, engineers, and innovators to build next-generation connected systems that span agriculture, rural tech, industrial automation, healthcare, and environmental monitoring. The hub acts as a national centre for knowledge generation and translation in IoT-CPS, bridging the gap between cutting-edge research and market-ready products.

Programs for Startups

Aarohan – Seed Support Program

The Aarohan program is TIH IIT Bombay's flagship startup support initiative, providing early-stage seed funding and mentorship to startups working on IoT, connected devices, and cyber-physical systems. Selected startups receive financial grants, access to IIT Bombay's world-class labs and facilities, and guidance from faculty mentors and industry experts. The program is especially well-suited for hardware-software integrated startups building smart agriculture, industrial IoT, or embedded systems solutions.

Focus Areas

TIH IIT Bombay supports startups working across:

  • Agricultural IoT – precision farming, soil monitoring, crop disease detection
  • DeepTech & Robotics – autonomous systems, embedded AI, edge computing
  • Industrial IoT – factory automation, predictive maintenance, connected supply chains
  • Rural Technology – last-mile connectivity, smart water management, rural infrastructure

Why Apply

Startups backed by TIH IIT Bombay benefit from direct access to IIT Bombay's research ecosystem, including faculty collaborators, test infrastructure, and an alumni network of successful founders and investors. The NM-ICPS backing ensures government-grade credibility and opens doors to further DST funding and national mission programs.

This is an excellent opportunity for deeptech founders at the intersection of hardware and software who are building solutions for India's digital and agricultural transformation. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis through the hub's official website.
