Best for: VC-backed startups at Series A and later.

  • Online
What you get, who can apply and how to apply

Alteria Capital provides venture debt, a loan that sits alongside a venture equity round. You enquire with the fund rather than apply to a cohort.

Who can apply

  • Startups backed by reputed institutional venture investors
  • Series A and later; the site names Series A to Series D
  • Any sector; the fund is sector agnostic

How selection works: The site lists what it looks for: strong institutional backing, good founders and management, and scalable, differentiated businesses. It does not describe the steps after your enquiry.

How to apply: Use the contact page form with the Funding Inquiry option, or write to alteria@alteriacapital.com. The site gives no deadline.

How to apply to Alteria Capital

How to reach the fund

  • Use the form on the contact page and choose Funding Inquiry. It asks for your name, email, company, a subject and a description of your business.
  • You can also write to alteria@alteriacapital.com, the enquiries inbox on the contact and FAQ pages.
  • The site gives no deadline and no response time, so keep talking to other lenders and investors while you wait.

Before you write

  • Venture debt sits alongside venture equity. The fund looks for companies already backed by reputed institutional investors, so say who your investors are and when you last raised.
  • Its FAQ asks for a cash runway of at least one year and a business past product-market fit. Show your runway and your plan for the next equity round.
  • Be clear on the purpose: runway extension, capex, working capital or lending partnerships are the uses it lists.
  • Check how much of your operating expenses the repayments would take. The fund itself warns against debt service above 20% of them.

Other routes

  • Alteria Activate lists live open innovation mandates from corporates. Startups beyond its portfolio can apply through the links on that page.

About Alteria Capital

Alteria Capital is a venture debt fund with offices in Mumbai and Gurugram. Its site describes it as a venture debt fund supporting startups that are already backed by venture capital investors. The team says it pioneered venture debt in 2008 and has been investing through Alteria since 2017. Its funds are listed on the site as SEBI-registered alternative investment funds, which means it lends to startups rather than buying equity in them.

Venture debt here is a complement to an equity round, not a replacement for one. The fund says it invests as early as Series A and stays relevant as a debt provider even past Series D. It calls itself sector agnostic and names e-commerce, fintech, consumer brands, edtech, healthcare and enterprise software among the segments it has backed; its portfolio page runs from agri-tech and EV mobility to SaaS, logistics and prop-tech, with more than 200 companies. Tenors run from 12 to 36 Months, and the site lists runway extension, capex and project financing, working capital, and financing for fintech lending partnerships as the typical uses. It describes the structure as senior debt with monthly repayments, a fixed coupon and some equity kickers.

The screening criteria are stated plainly. It looks for strong institutional backing from reputed venture investors, good founders and management, and scalable, differentiated businesses, typically after product-market fit. It also says it wants a cash runway of at least one year and cautions against venture debt for companies with a short runway, where debt service is more than 20% of operating expenses, or that are pre-product-market fit. A startup with no institutional equity investor is unlikely to fit.

To reach the fund, use the contact page form, which asks for your name, email, company and a description of your business and has a Funding Inquiry option, or write to the enquiries inbox published on the site. The site publishes no application window, deadline or response time. Separately, Alteria Activate connects portfolio and other startups with corporates and service providers, and its page lists live open innovation mandates you can apply to.
