About Incubation
Incubation is the centre's main route. It is for a registered startup that has built an initial prototype, or has a product or service that some first customers are already using. Startups with no connection to the university are admitted, provided they are technology-based or building something with social impact.
What you get
- Office space in the incubatee block, internet, furniture and storage
- A library, a meeting and conference room with projection, and tele and video conferencing
- A shared secretarial pool, and an MBA student assigned for management support on request
- A monthly strategy review with the head of the centre
- A faculty advisor as technology mentor, plus empanelled specialist mentors for particular areas
- Access to the centre's AI and machine-learning lab, IoT fab lab, AR-VR lab, proof-of-concept lab and 3D makers lab, and to university departments on campus
Who can apply
- Registered private or public limited companies and LLPs under the Companies Act 2013; this can be relaxed for six months against a letter of intent
- Startups with no BAMU link, if they are technology-based or create social impact; the centre will help you find a university mentor or board advisor after you join
- Companies promoted by BAMU faculty, under the university's faculty entrepreneurship policy
- Companies promoted by full-time BAMU students, with a no-objection certificate and a self-declaration
- Not eligible: companies teaching courses or running training programmes, startups that have already graduated from the centre for the same venture, and companies where a full-time student holds an executive position. A promoter who is a serving government or organisation employee needs an employer no-objection certificate.
How selection works: applications are called twice a year and screened for the idea's potential and the team's credibility. Shortlisted applicants get an application form and a pitch-deck template, then pitch in person to the Startups Selection Committee, which meets twice a year. A draft incubation agreement follows.
How to apply: fill the startup registration form on the centre's site, or write to ceo.aic@bamu.ac.in. Incubation fees are paid in advance along with a security deposit; ask for the schedule when you apply.
