About DFI Public Policy Fellowship

DFI runs a six-month, full-time fellowship for people early in their careers who want to work on technology policy. Fellows sit with DFI's policy and ecosystem teams, working on drone regulation, government engagement and research. It is listed under careers, and it is a placement for a person, not a route for a company.

The work includes drafting policy notes, tracking regulatory reform, writing impact stories, co-authoring whitepapers, assessing sector opportunities, preparing briefs for consultations and roundtables, building training material for public sector adoption of drones, and contributing to DFI's own policy submissions. The six months run from orientation and grounding, through independent project work and deeper analysis, into consultations and field visits, and finish with a portfolio presentation, mentorship feedback and a certificate.

What you get

  • Live projects that feed into government decisions.
  • Published policy briefs, blogs and research outputs under DFI mentorship.
  • Meetings with regulators, industry leaders and policymakers, plus field visits and stakeholder sessions.
  • A certificate, mentorship, and a cohort of other fellows.

Who can apply

  • Early-career professionals with up to two years of experience in research, consulting or startups, interested in public systems and governance.
  • Applicants with strong analytical, writing and communication skills.

How to apply: Applications are open. Apply through the fellowship page with a CV and a writing sample on a policy, governance or technology topic.
