About HUL Open Innovation
HUL's R&D organisation publishes a list of challenges and wants and invites outside innovators to respond. Start-ups are named among the groups it will consider. The wants lean towards ingredient, formulation and packaging science. Current examples include a search for suppliers with libraries of natural and botanical-derived compounds that HUL can test, and a search for new routes to better-quality post-consumer recycled plastic.
Who can apply
- Established suppliers, start-ups, academics, designers and individual inventors.
- Anyone with a practical innovation that helps HUL meet one of its posted challenges.
- No stage, incorporation or location condition is stated.
How selection works: HUL's page does not describe a review process, timeline or deadline, and does not state any equity, grant or cohort terms.
How to apply: Choose a posted want on the Open Innovation page and use its application link to send in a technical solution through the Open Innovation portal. When we checked in October 2026 that portal address did not load, so confirm the link works before you plan around it.
