The seed support aims to bridge the gap in financial support for technology-driven start-ups in their initial phase, enabling them to raise investments or seek loans. Eligibility requires the incubatee to be a registered Indian company with a minimum of three months residency at the TBI and at least 51% shareholding by Indian promoters. Support covers product development, testing and trials, test marketing, mentoring, professional consultancy, IPR issues, and manpower for day-to-day operations.

The seed support is disbursed by an incubator to an incubatee to bridge the development and commercialization of innovative technologies/products/services. Eligibility requires the applicant startup to be a registered Indian company (preferably DPIIT registered/applied) with a minimum of 3 months association with the incubator in its resident or virtual program. The startup must have clarity on Unique Selling Preposition (USP). Indian promoters must hold at least 51% shareholding. Preference is given to startups who have not availed funding from other Government of India/State Govt. bodies. Funds can be utilized for technology development and de-risking activities, scale-up, market entry, product development, mentoring, consultancy, and IPR issues, with generally not more than 10% for team salaries.
