  • For the Mentoring Clinic, a short list of the specific questions you want answered in the session.

About TiE Kolkata

TiE Kolkata is the Kolkata chapter of TiE Global, a non-profit network that supports entrepreneurs through mentoring, networking, education, funding and incubation. It works with entrepreneurs in all industries and at all stages. Its office is at the STPI building in Sector-V, Salt Lake, Kolkata.

What TiE Kolkata is, and what it is not

TiE Kolkata is a membership community and programme host. It is not a funding scheme with a single application and a fixed cohort. Most of what it offers comes through membership, a monthly mentoring clinic, an annual conference and a set of programmes that run under the global TiE banner. Founders who want a grant or a seat in a residential incubator will not find one here. Founders who want mentors, peers and a route to angel investors will.

Its own pages give two start years: one says it has been supporting entrepreneurs since 2001, and its timeline says it was established in 2005. The site also says the chapter has run for more than 25 years. In 2018 it received the TiE Global award for Most Improved TiE Chapter Globally, and in 2024 it was announced as a Category A Chapter.

Programmes you can use

The Mentoring Clinic is a monthly initiative. Founders, early-stage entrepreneurs, small and medium business owners, aspiring entrepreneurs and professionals exploring a new venture can sit down one-on-one with experienced mentors. Topics include business planning and strategy, marketing and sales, people and leadership, finance and legal, and technology.

TiE Women is for early-stage women entrepreneurs. It combines chapter-level mentoring with regional pitch competitions and a global final, and it offers equity-free cash prizes. The 2026 round took applications from 8 March 2026 to 15 June 2026, so that window has closed. The global final is planned for December 2026. The page lists winners and runners-up for each year from 2020 to 2025, several of them from eastern India.

TiE U is a student startup accelerator that runs for 6 months. Teams of 1 to 5 members, with at least one current student, apply online with a pitch deck and a 1-minute video. Shortlisted teams get one mentor each, workshops on pitch design, business models and investor readiness, and a place in a global pitch competition.

TiE Young Entrepreneurs (TYE) is for high school students in Grades 9-12. It has three phases: learning sessions, business plan development with mentors, and a business plan competition. Students get 14+ hours of classroom training and mentorship and a TiE Kolkata certificate. The winning Kolkata team goes on to the TYE Global Finals.

TiECON Kolkata is the chapter's annual conference, with keynote sessions, fireside chats, a startup showcase, workshops and panel discussions. TiE Angels is a global platform where TiE Charter Members invest in start-ups; it currently works through investors from the Americas and India.

Who can join

TiE has four kinds of membership. Student membership is for high school and university students. Regular membership is for entrepreneurs and aspiring professionals who want mentoring and discounted event entry. Charter membership is for established entrepreneurs, corporate leaders and thought leaders, and it is by invitation only under the TiE bylaws. Corporate membership lets a company nominate one employee as a Charter Member, and it is also by invitation only and subject to approval. The chapter reports more than 120 Charter Members and more than 250 Associate Members.

How to get in touch

The site has a join form that asks for your name, company, email, phone and membership category. You can also write to the chapter secretariat or call the office on the numbers listed on the contact page. The events listing on the site was showing sample text when we checked, so confirm dates for the Mentoring Clinic and TiECON with the secretariat.
