About ProtoNest membership

ProtoNest is the incubator's makerspace, run as a membership rather than a programme. It is the way to use the labs if you are not an incubated startup, and it carries no funding and no equity relationship.

The space is organised into zones: a tinkering and IoT lab, a wood zone, a test and measurement lab, an AR/VR area, a design room, a drones wing, rapid prototyping and AI/ML. It is open six days a week, from nine in the morning until eight at night, except second Saturdays and public holidays.

What you get

  • Access to the labs and equipment covered by your membership tier
  • Guidance and mentoring from the incubator's team, subject to availability
  • A network of other builders, plus internships and upskilling workshops
  • Day passes for occasional users

Who can apply

  • Current students, alumni, professionals, research fellows, and startups or MSMEs
  • Rates differ for JNTUH students, students from other institutions, individual professionals and companies, and company memberships are priced by duration
  • Alumni-founded organisations get a discount, and people who have been through an incubator programme get a smaller one if they register within a month

Practical terms: safety training is mandatory before you use equipment, consumables such as wood or sheets are charged at cost, and equipment stays on the premises unless you have prior approval and leave a deposit. Members are liable for damage caused by negligence, and membership can be suspended or revoked for repeated policy breaches.

How to apply: fill in the membership form linked from the incubator's site and submit documents proving which category you fall into. The membership policy is published on the downloads page, and membership questions go to manager@jntuhtbi.in.
