About Qmet PARIMANA Fellowship Program (UG, PG and PhD)
PARIMANA stands for Program for Advanced Research in Imaging, Metrology, And Nano-scale Applications of Quantum Sensing. It is Qmet's human resource development work, meant to strengthen academia-industry links and build a skilled workforce in quantum technologies. This is for students, not for companies. The most recent round closed on 31 August 2026.
Proposals are invited across time keeping and atomic clocks, gravity sensing with atom interferometers and quantum gravimeters, GPS-free navigation with quantum gyroscopes and accelerometers, biomedical imaging and diagnostics using NV centres in diamond, magnetic and electric field sensing, precision measurement and quantum imaging.
What you get
- Undergraduate: a hands-on internship of up to 10 months, with a monthly stipend and a consumables and contingency allowance
- Postgraduate: a fellowship of up to 2 years, with a monthly stipend and an annual consumables and contingency allowance
- PhD: a fellowship over 5 years, with a monthly stipend that rises by year and an annual research grant covering equipment, consumables and project travel
Who can apply
- Undergraduates in any engineering or science discipline who have finished first year and have at least 10 months of their course left at sanction, with a grade average of at least 6.0 out of 10 or 60 percent
- Postgraduates admitted to a quantum technologies or related programme at an IIT, NIT, other centrally funded institution or an AICTE or UGC-approved institution, with a valid GATE or JAM score — IIT dual-degree students without GATE are eligible — and the same grade threshold
- PhD scholars admitted to such an institution with a grade average of at least 7.5 out of 10 or 70 percent
- In every case, applicants must not be receiving any other government-funded scholarship or fellowship during the term
How selection works: shortlisted applicants are told by email, and Qmet states its decision is final.
How to apply: through the form linked from the programme page, with a project proposal in Qmet's prescribed format, a 250-word executive summary in its format, and a No Objection Certificate from your institute obtained through a faculty mentor you have identified.
