About Bio-incubation (full-time)
Full-time incubation is the incubator's main offer. You get physical bench space — either a laboratory module or part of a laboratory, sized to what your work needs — the basic instrumentation that comes with it, and mentoring from the Coordinator and Nodal Officers. Intake is rolling: a standing notice runs on the incubator's website and advertisements go out twice a year in a national newspaper.
What you get
- A laboratory module, or part of a laboratory, sized to your needs
- Basic instrumentation as part of the lab support
- Mentoring from the incubator's academic team, plus introductions to University of Delhi faculty in process optimisation, cell culture, enzyme biology, genetics, bioinformatics and related fields
- Help with company registration, regulatory certification, fund-raising and IP services through partner providers, which the incubator says it arranges at no extra charge
- Patent-awareness workshops, industry interaction sessions and introductions to investors who review incubatee ideas and plans
Who can apply
- Anyone with a registered company holding an idea, prototype product or process that needs further development before it can be marketed
- Individuals and academics funded through another programme to test a technology, such as BIG grantees and privately funded individuals
- No requirement to study or work at the University of Delhi
How selection works: you are asked to present your idea briefly to an Advisory Committee before selection. Those selected sign an agreement with the incubator at the start of incubation.
How to apply: write to bionest@south.du.ac.in, or use the "Apply for Incubation" link on the incubator's site. There is no dated deadline.
Use of equipment beyond the basics is charged at rates approved by the university. No equity is taken.
