Frequently Asked Questions

What is the due date for filing an ITR?

For most individuals and non-audit cases the due date is 31 July following the end of the financial year. For taxpayers requiring an audit it is 31 October. The government occasionally extends these dates — we file well before the deadline.

Which ITR form applies to me?

ITR-1 is for salaried individuals with income up to ₹50 lakh; ITR-2 for capital gains or multiple house properties; ITR-3 for business or professional income with books; ITR-4 for presumptive income; ITR-5 and ITR-6 for firms and companies. We select the correct one for you.

What happens if I file after the due date?

A late fee under Section 234F applies — up to ₹5,000, reduced to ₹1,000 where total income is up to ₹5 lakh — along with interest under Section 234A on unpaid tax. You also lose the right to carry forward most losses.

Can I still file a return for a year I missed?

In many cases yes, through an Updated Return (ITR-U) under Section 139(8A), filed within the allowed window with additional tax. We assess your case and file it where eligible.

Do I need to file if TDS was already deducted?

Yes. TDS deduction does not replace filing. Filing is how you report total income, claim refunds of excess TDS, and stay compliant — and it is required as income proof for loans and visas.

Is an ITR needed for grant or loan applications?

Frequently, yes. Banks and grant committees ask for the last one to three years of ITR acknowledgements as proof of income and financial standing during due diligence.
