Eight funding and support programs are currently open for Product-stage startups in India. The opportunities include grants, deep-tech competitions, and incubation support from providers like Enterprise Singapore (SLINGSHOT 2026), the Thiel Foundation, and IIT Kharagpur. These programs are designed for ventures that have a minimum viable product (MVP) but have not yet started generating revenue.

The funding landscape for Product-stage startups typically involves a mix of non-dilutive grants, early-stage seed capital tied to incubation, and prize money from competitions. Eligibility often requires a demonstrable prototype or MVP, with support aimed at product refinement, market validation, and achieving initial traction before pursuing institutional venture capital.

IIT Kharagpur Agri-Food Incubation Programs (AFBIC)

The Agri-Food Business Incubation Centre (AFBIC) at IIT Kharagpur runs three distinct programs under the Ministry of Agriculture's RKVY-RAFTAAR scheme. All three programs provide non-dilutive grant funding, mentorship, and access to IIT Kharagpur's agricultural and food engineering ecosystem. The current application window for all three programs closes on June 30, 2026, and eligibility is open to founders from West Bengal or ventures originating from the state.

  • AOP (Agripreneurship Orientation Programme): This program is for idea and prototype-stage agri-food ventures. Selected founders receive up to ₹5 lakh in grant-in-aid to move from concept to a validated prototype, supported by mentorship and market linkage.
  • AIP (Agri-Startup Incubation Programme): Targeting startups that have an MVP, beta, or are ready for expansion, AIP offers a larger grant of up to ₹25 lakh. The program includes a one-month online mentorship period and a 15-day on-campus workshop at IIT Kharagpur.
  • SOP (Student Orientation Programme): This track is specifically for student innovators working on agri-tech ideas. It provides a grant of up to ₹4 lakh, along with technical and business mentoring to develop their concepts.

Thiel Fellowship — $250K Grant for Young Founders Under 22 (Thiel Foundation)

The Thiel Fellowship is a two-year program providing a $250,000 (~₹2.25 crore) grant to young founders under the age of 22 who opt to build a company or project instead of attending college. The foundation takes no equity in the ventures. It is one of the few global programs that supports founders at the idea or pre-product stage, making it suitable for those developing an MVP.

Fellows receive the grant over two years and commit to dropping out of or skipping university for the program's duration. Beyond the capital, the fellowship provides access to the Thiel Foundation's network of founders, investors, and scientists. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

TiE Women Program 2026 (TiE Pune)

The TiE Women Program 2026 is a global pitch competition for women-led businesses across all sectors and stages. Run by The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE), the program offers a platform for founders to present their businesses to industry leaders and investors.

The initiative provides mentorship from TiE's network and access to investors. The prize pool includes over $100,000 in grant funding, with a $50,000 Global Winner Prize. The deadline for applications is June 25, 2026.

Open Challenge Program (OCP) Cohort 1 (NERVE CoE, Nagpur)

The Open Challenge Program (OCP) Cohort 1 at NERVE CoE, Nagpur is an 18-month incubation program for deep tech startups. Backed by MeitY and based at STPI Nagpur, it targets ventures in HealthTech, AgriTech, Forestry, and Mining. The program is structured to support startups that have a prototype and need resources to scale.

Selected startups receive up to ₹50 lakh in seed funding, dedicated AI and GPU compute infrastructure for product development, and structured mentoring on unit economics and investor readiness. The program also offers GTM support, enterprise introductions, and legal assistance. Applications for Cohort 1 are open until July 15, 2026.

SLINGSHOT 2026 Deep Tech Startup Competition (Enterprise Singapore)

SLINGSHOT 2026 is Asia's leading deep tech startup pitching competition, held during the Singapore Week of Innovation and Technology (SWITCH). It is open to global startups, including those from India, working in five domains: Advanced Computing & Intelligence; Advanced Manufacturing & Industrial Systems; Digital Technologies & Security; Environment, Energy & Sustainability.

The competition offers a total grant prize pool of over S$2.2 million (₹16.34 crore). The Grand Winner receives a grant of S$400,000 (₹2.97 crore). Additionally, the top 50 global startups receive a sponsored trip to Singapore to compete in the finals. The application deadline is June 30, 2026.

Maruti Suzuki NURTURE Cohort 4 (IIM Calcutta Innovation Park)

Maruti Suzuki NURTURE Cohort 4 is a pre-incubation program run jointly by Maruti Suzuki and IIM Calcutta Innovation Park. It is designed for early-stage startups with a focus on mobility, sustainability, social impact, and enterprise tech. While it emphasizes eastern India, it is open to startups serving any region of the country.

Benefits include cash rewards worth ₹13 lakh, the opportunity for a paid Proof of Concept (PoC) with Maruti Suzuki, mentorship from industry experts, and access to the company's ecosystem and alumni network. This program is particularly relevant for Product-stage startups looking for corporate validation and market access. The application process is rolling, with no fixed deadline.

Before Applying

When evaluating these opportunities, founders should note specific eligibility constraints that go beyond the startup's stage. The IIT Kharagpur programs (AOP, AIP, SOP) require a direct link to West Bengal. The Thiel Fellowship has a strict age limit of 22 and mandates a pause on formal education. Sector-specific programs like NERVE CoE (AI, DeepTech) and Maruti Suzuki NURTURE (Mobility, Enterprise Tech) require alignment with their focus domains.

Timing is another critical factor. The TiE Women Program closes soon on June 25, followed closely by the IIT Kharagpur grants and SLINGSHOT 2026 on June 30. Missing these cohort-based deadlines means a significant wait. In contrast, the rolling admissions for the Thiel Fellowship and Maruti Suzuki NURTURE provide greater application flexibility. For competitions like SLINGSHOT, applicants should be prepared for a multi-stage selection process that culminates in finals held in Singapore.
