50% of the expenditure incurred, up to a maximum of INR 25 lakh per patent.

Is the assistance paid all at once?

No. A maximum of INR 10 lakh may be given against expenditure on filing, attorney fees and patent tracking, and up to a maximum of INR 25 lakh on final acceptance of the patent.

Does the patent have to be granted?

The policy covers patents that are successfully generated, registered and accepted, with the larger tranche tied specifically to final acceptance.

Can I claim for more than one patent?

Yes — the cap of INR 25 lakh is stated per patent.

Does a patent I acquired from someone else qualify?

No. The policy requires the patent to be based on the unit's own original work or research.
