Is the amount paid before or after the patent is granted?
After. Reimbursement only applies to successful patents — the application must be formally granted by the relevant foreign patent office (or via PCT national phase) before UPLC processes the claim.
Which filing route does this cover?
Typically a PCT (Patent Cooperation Treaty) application entering national phase, or a direct filing in a foreign jurisdiction.
Who can apply?
Startups registered and recognised under the Uttar Pradesh Startup Policy 2020 via the StartinUP portal, with the patent granted abroad.
