iDEX Scheme

Grant scheme

Provides funding up to ₹1.5 crores in the form of equity/other relevant structures to selected applicants.

Applicants include Start-ups as defined by DIPP, MSMEs as defined in the MSME Act, 2006, and Individual Innovators. Applications are screened by a high-powered committee of defence and technology experts. Funds are disbursed in tranches based on milestones. Selected applicants may also receive entry to accelerator programs run by iDEX partners, support in technology and business development through mentorship, and access to defence testing facilities and experts. The program encourages spending on Research & Development, Prototyping, Pilot Implementation, and Market Assessment.

Defence India Startup Challenge (DISC)

Competition

A series of challenges to address problem statements in key defence technology domains, offering grants up to Rs 1.50 crore.

The 12th edition launched with 41 problem statements across domains including UAVs, AI, Networking, and Communication. The 13th edition featured seven challenges from the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force, focusing on Artificial Intelligence, military communication, and autonomous bots. The program also introduced the Medical Innovations and Research Advancement (MIRA) initiative with nine challenges for medical technologies.

ADITI (Acing Development of Innovative Technologies with iDEX)

Competition

A scheme offering grants up to Rs 25 crore for critical technological areas crucial for strengthening the defence ecosystem.

The 2nd edition launched with 19 problem statements from the Armed Forces and allied agencies in domains such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Quantum Technology, military communication, anti-drone systems, and adaptive camouflage. The 3rd edition invited startups to design a High-Power Microwave Weapon System for the Indian Navy, advancing indigenous defence technologies and enhancing operational capabilities.

Platform

Launched to accelerate investments in the Defence sector with a pledged investment of over Rs 200 Cr from 9 leading investors.

The iDEX Investor Hub (iIH) was launched during Manthan at Aero-India 2023 to augment the growth of the startup ecosystem by facilitating investments in the Defence sector.

SPRINT

Programme

A specific initiative for naval challenges, with 50 contracts signed.

iDEX signed its 50th SPRINT contract with Sagar Defence. The initiative includes review meetings for Navy SPRINT Cases and involves iDEX winners visiting Indian Naval Air Stations for data collection related to challenges like the DISC 7 (SPRINT) Challenge “Al-based Foreign Object Detection (FOD) System”.

Defence Innovation Organisation (DIO) – रक्षा उत्कृष्टता के लिए नवाचार (iDEX)

Defence Innovation Organisation (DIO) भारत सरकार के रक्षा मंत्रालय के रक्षा उत्पादन विभाग के अधीन एक गैर-लाभकारी धारा 8 कंपनी है। DIO का गठन Innovations for Defence Excellence (iDEX) पहल का स्वामित्व, वित्तपोषण और प्रबंधन करने के लिए किया गया था, जिसे प्रधानमंत्री मोदी ने 12 अप्रैल 2018 को चेन्नई में DefExpo में सार्वजनिक रूप से लॉन्च किया था।

मिशन

iDEX-DIO का मुख्य उद्देश्य स्टार्टअप, व्यक्तिगत नवप्रवर्तकों, MSME, अनुसंधान एवं विकास संस्थानों और अकादमिक जगत के साथ सीधे जुड़कर भारत के रक्षा और एयरोस्पेस क्षेत्रों के लिए एक आत्मनिर्भर नवाचार और प्रौद्योगिकी विकास पारिस्थितिकी तंत्र का निर्माण करना है।

कार्यक्रम

Defence Innovation Challenges (DICs): DIO नियमित रूप से सेना, नौसेना, वायु सेना और DPSU से प्रौद्योगिकी समस्या विवरण जारी करता है। स्टार्टअप AI, स्वायत्त प्रणालियों, संचार, RADAR, साइबर सुरक्षा, नेविगेशन, सामग्री विज्ञान और मानवरहित प्रणालियों सहित विशिष्ट चुनौतियों के खिलाफ आवेदन करते हैं।

iDEX Prime & ADITI: परिपक्व प्रौद्योगिकियों के लिए उन्नत फंडिंग ट्रैक जिन्हें उच्च निवेश की आवश्यकता होती है। ADITI (Acing Development of Innovative Technologies with iDEX) योजना महत्वपूर्ण तकनीकी अंतरालों के लिए ₹25 करोड़ तक के अनुदान प्रदान करती है।
