The Ignition Grant is the funding call KIT's IRF runs under DST's NIDHI i-TBI scheme. Rounds have run in 2023, 2024 and 2026. The 2026 round opened on 7 March and closed on 28 March, and its final evaluation was held in September, so it is between intakes rather than open — watch the incubator's notices for the next one.

- The startup must have kept annual turnover under the published ceiling since inception

How selection works: proposals are called, shortlisted, put through an induction programme, and then judged in a final evaluation round. Both the 2024 and 2026 rounds ran that way.

This is a state scheme that KIT's IRF channels as an incubator rather than one it runs itself. It backs product development, market validation, business development and team building.
Who can apply
- You must be a legally recognised entity
- If you are not a registered company, you must register as one within three months of the incubation or pre-incubation period
How selection works: applications are screened for completeness and eligibility, then evaluated by a panel of experts on market potential, innovation and feasibility. Shortlisted startups pitch, and the final call is made on the application, the pitch and the expert evaluation together.
How to apply: through KIT's IRF as your incubator. Ask at kitirf@kitcoek.in. Note that selected startups receive the money as compulsory convertible preference shares, so this route takes equity.

Stated by the incubator on its own About page, and confirmed at Sr. No. 28 of DST's published List of DST NIDHI inclusive Technology Business Incubators (47 entries, document uploaded January 2026), which records the host institute as KIT College of Engineering, Kolhapur, Maharashtra, with website www.kitirf.com. Checked 25 September 2026. This is the i-TBI register specifically, not DST's separate TBI or NIDHI-TBI lists. Neither the register nor the incubator's own pages give a sanction date or funding period, so whether the support is current cannot be told from published sources.

Host Institute, MSME Innovative Scheme (Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises)
Held by the HOST COLLEGE, not by the incubator. Listed at entry 356 of the Ministry's published List of Host Institutes for the incubation component of the MSME Innovative Scheme, as "KIT College of Engineering, Autonomous, Kolhapur", checked 24 September 2026. The incubator's own site never claims it. It is a capacity registration that lets an innovator name the institute as their Host Institute on the ministry's portal; it is not an intake, and the list gives no approval date, period or status column, so whether it is current cannot be told from it.
