What you get, who can apply and how to applyHide details
The Technology Incubation Centre invites proposals on a rolling basis for the lease of its ready-to-use modular laboratories. There is no cohort and no deadline: you submit a research proposal, and the park decides. Because this is a lease rather than a stipend-based programme, it suits teams that genuinely need bench space and instruments in Guwahati.
What you get
- Ready-to-use modular wet laboratory space, fully furnished with core and shell utilities, in units of roughly 300 to 1900 sq ft
- Shared basic office services and technology support services
- Assistance in arranging finance for the company's growth
- Access to the park's analytical, bioprospecting, micropropagation, herbal extraction and fermentation facilities, each with its own charge list
- The park's assurance of confidentiality and security over your data, material and contract results
Who can apply
- Entrepreneurs, firms, societies, partnerships, companies, scientists and students — this is not restricted to a host institute
- Enterprises or individuals doing research, training or manufacturing, including bioinformatics and clinical studies, may operate within the park
- Aimed at researchers spinning off from universities and research bodies in the Northeast, young professionals with an innovative business idea, and entrepreneurs starting a new company in the region
- No incorporation is stated as a precondition to apply, though a company is asked for its annual report or balance sheet
How selection works: Proposals are selected on the innovation merit, sustainability and marketability of the product or service.
How to apply: Download the application format and annexures from the park's How To Associate page, and submit the proposal covering the space and lease period you need, a broad business plan with the instruments required, the promoter institution or company, means of funding, staff to be positioned at the centre, the major facilities to be installed, and effluents likely to be generated with handling, bio-risk and gene containment commitments. Post it to the Chief Executive Officer, Guwahati Biotech Park, Technology Incubation Centre, Amingaon, Guwahati 781031, or email it to ceogbp@guwahatibiotechpark.com.
NIDHI-PRAYAS at Guwahati Biotech Park

- Idea – Prototype
- Up to 18 months, extendable by 6 months
- In person
- Free, no equity
- Grant support for selected startups
With NIDHI-PRAYAS
What you get, who can apply and how to applyHide details
Guwahati Biotech Park announces its own call for NIDHI-PRAYAS and runs the screening committee, the project monitoring committee and the local monitoring committee that reviews progress. The last application date published on the park's page has passed and no later call is listed, so treat this as between intakes and check the page before preparing anything.
What you get

- One-on-one business and commercialisation advisory
- Connections to partners, vendors, customers and investors
- Working space and access to the park's laboratories and library resources
Who can apply
- An individual innovator who is an Indian citizen, at least 18 on the date of application, with government-approved proof of nationality; for a team, one lead innovator applies and receives the support
- An existing incubatee applying as a company must be less than two years old, developing a prototype for a new product it has not already received similar support for, and without significant revenue at the time of applying
- The project must involve physical product development — software-only projects and pure academic research are not eligible
- Doctoral and other long-term research students, and professors or academicians teaching at an academic or R&D institute, are not eligible
- A no-objection certificate is needed from your institution if you study or work at one, and from the IP owner if you are building on institutional IP
- Support can be taken only once, and not if similar support has been sought from another Government of India body for the same concept
How selection works: The park screens applications through a committee against qualifying criteria, shortlisted applicants present their proposal to the project monitoring committee, and the park informs those selected. Preference may be given to innovators who have bootstrapped or hold a co-investment commitment, who have a clear commercialisation or startup road map, and to women and young innovators. The project runs up to eighteen months, extendable by six months on the decision of the local monitoring committee at the park.

Host Institute, MSME Innovative Scheme (Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises)
Listed at entry 164 of the Ministry's published List of Host Institutes for the incubation component of the MSME Innovative Scheme, as "Technology Incubation Centre, Guwahati Biotech Park" (KAMRUP, ASSAM), checked 24 September 2026. This is the status that lets an innovator name the institute as their Host Institute when applying on the ministry's own portal. How to apply to Technology Incubation Centre, Guwahati Biotech Park
Business Incubation Centre for Fisheries and Aquaculture
CEO का इनबॉक्स ceogbp@guwahatibiotechpark.com है।
About Technology Incubation Centre, Guwahati Biotech Park
The Technology Incubation Centre (TIC), also written as Guwahati Biotech Park Incubation Centre or GBPIC, is the incubation arm of Guwahati Biotech Park (GBP) at Amingaon in Kamrup, on the north bank of the Brahmaputra near IIT Guwahati, Assam Engineering College, IASST and Gauhati University. GBP is a registered society under the Science, Technology and Climate Change Department, Government of Assam, and describes itself as the first biotech park in North East India, set up as a joint initiative of the Government of Assam and the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India. Its own pages date the park to 2007 in one place and say the idea for the society was conceived in 2008 in another; the Technology Incubation Centre building's foundation stone was laid in September 2017.
The park and the incubation centre are two different offers
Guwahati Biotech Park sits on 21 acres and works at two levels, and it is worth knowing which one you are applying to. The park side is an industrial offer: land in its Business Enterprise Zone cannot be bought, only taken on long-term lease, and non-lab office space and the conference room are available on long-term lease or daily rental. Companies that take space this way become park tenants and are listed as business partners. The incubation centre side is what most founders want first — around 20,000 sq ft of ready-to-use modular wet laboratory space, leased in units of roughly 300 to 1900 sq ft, with shared office services, technology support and help in arranging finance for growth. In practice, in-house incubation at TIC also means leasing space, so it suits a team that actually needs a bench in Guwahati rather than one that only wants mentoring. The grant, training and mentoring programmes below do not all require you to take space.
How programmes work
In-house incubation is the standing route. There is no portal and no cohort: you write a research proposal for modular laboratory space on the park's published application format, covering the space and lease period you need, a broad business plan including instruments, your promoter company or institution, how the work will be funded, the staff you will place at the centre, the facilities you will install and how you will handle effluents, bio-risk and gene containment. Proposals are judged on innovation merit, sustainability and marketability, and are posted or emailed to the Chief Executive Officer at Amingaon.
Alongside it, GBP announces its own call for NIDHI-PRAYAS, the national prototyping grant for individual innovators building a physical product, and runs the screening committee and the local monitoring committee for it. The last application date published on that page has passed, so treat it as between intakes and watch for a fresh call. BICFA, the Business Incubation Centre for Fisheries and Aquaculture, runs at the park under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana and is aimed at fisheries and aquaculture entrepreneurs in the Northeast; its associates can incubate in the same modular lab space at TIC. A Skill Satellite Centre on the campus runs capacity building programmes for women, including self-help groups in rural Assam, under DSIR's Technology Development and Utilization Programme for Women. The park also invites biotechnology students for internship, project and dissertation placements of two weeks to six months, and hosts exposure visits for colleges and universities across the Northeast.
Who can apply
Incubation is not restricted to a host institute. The park states that entrepreneurs, firms, societies, partnerships, companies, scientists and students may apply, and that enterprises or individuals doing research, training or manufacturing, including bioinformatics and clinical studies, may operate within the park. No incorporation is stated as a precondition to submit a proposal, though a company applying is asked for its annual report or balance sheet. The centre is aimed at researchers from universities and research bodies spinning off a company in the Northeast, young professionals with an innovative business idea, and entrepreneurs diversifying into a new company in the region. NIDHI-PRAYAS has its own, tighter rules: Indian citizens aged 18 or over, a physical product rather than software alone, no doctoral students, professors or academicians, and a no-objection certificate from your institution if you study or work at one.
Facilities
Beyond the modular wet labs, the incubation centre runs a Central Analytical Instrumentation Facility that sells sample analysis and training to users inside and outside the park, plus bioprospecting, micropropagation, herbal extraction and fermentation facilities, a greenhouse and a cold room. Its published instrument list runs to more than eighty entries, including LC-MS/MS and 5L and 40L fermentors. Each facility has its own charge list and requisition form, so instrument access is available without incubating. The campus also hosts the Regional Honey Testing Laboratory, set up with National Bee Board funding under the National Beekeeping and Honey Mission, which tests honey and bee products for beekeepers, processors, exporters, startups and entrepreneurs, and BICFA's own laboratory and biofloc setup. Shared business support covers an administrative office, internet connectivity, video and teleconferencing, meeting rooms and a mini auditorium, a library, training rooms, a cafeteria and parking.
Who runs it
Shri Deba Kumar Mishra, ACS is the Chief Executive Officer and Shri Rakesh Kumar Thakur, ACS is the Administrator; a small scientific team of scientists and research associates runs the laboratories. Governance sits with the state: the Governing Body of the society is chaired by the Chief Minister of Assam, the Council of Management by the Chief Secretary, and the Incubation Centre's management committee by the Director of IIT Guwahati, with Prof. Goverdhan Mehta chairing its technical advisory board. The National Research Development Corporation's North East Cell has operated from the park's office since 2017. The park publishes its staff vacancies on a careers page and its events and tender notices on the site.
Locations
There is one campus: Guwahati Biotech Park, near the SP Office, Amingaon, Kamrup, Guwahati 781031. The Skill Satellite Centre shares that address rather than being a separate site.
