Overview

Launchpad is the entry point into NSRCEL, the startup incubator of IIM Bangalore, for founders who are still validating a problem. It is sector-agnostic, open to founders from across India, and runs as a five-month cohort.

The programme has run for many editions — the 2026 intake was Launchpad 30 — so each call follows a familiar shape: cohort-based learning, one-on-one mentoring with review checkpoints, two in-person bootcamps in Bengaluru, and a closing pitch to a mentor panel.

Eligibility

  • Founders at idea, prototype or MVP stage, in any sector.
  • Open to founders from anywhere in India, not only IIM Bangalore students or alumni.
  • Solo founders can apply.
  • One idea per applicant.
  • A clear understanding of the problem, backed by validation.
  • Past applicants can reapply, and should show what has changed since their last application.

Benefits

  • Cohort-based learning with other early-stage founders.
  • One-on-one mentoring.
  • A grant opportunity for the top incubatees of the cohort.
  • The NSRCEL Startup Kit of partner discounts and credits.
  • Two in-person bootcamps in Bengaluru.

How to Apply

Apply through the online application form on the Launchpad page when a cohort is open. Between cohorts, fill the interest form on the same page to hear when the next intake opens.

Selection Criteria

Application review → a conversation with the NSRCEL team → a pitch to the mentor panel → onboarding.

Reviewers look for founder intent and a bias for action, a deep understanding of the problem, and an innovative approach to it. Selection is competitive, and a place in the programme does not by itself guarantee a grant.

Program Structure

  • Duration: about five months per cohort.
  • Format: hybrid — online sessions, plus two in-person bootcamps of two to three days in Bengaluru.
  • Learning: workshops on problem-solution fit, early product-market fit, governance and the founder mindset.
  • Mentoring: one-on-one sessions with checkpoints to review progress.
  • Close: a pitch to NSRCEL's mentor panel.

Tips for Applicants

  • Lead with the problem and the evidence that it is real, not with the product.
  • If you applied before, say plainly what has changed since.
  • Apply with one idea — NSRCEL does not accept several from the same applicant.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is NSRCEL Launchpad only for IIM Bangalore students?

No. Launchpad is open to early-stage founders from across India, and solo founders can apply.

What stage does a startup need to be at for Launchpad?

Idea, prototype or MVP stage. Startups that already have revenue and customers are a better fit for NSRCEL's growth programmes.

How long does Launchpad run?

About five months per cohort, mixing online sessions with two in-person bootcamps in Bengaluru.

Can I reapply to Launchpad if I was not selected?

Yes. NSRCEL accepts past applicants and asks them to highlight the progress made since their previous application.
