The N.S. Raghavan Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning (NSRCEL) is the entrepreneurship and innovation hub at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB). Established in 2000, it is one of India's oldest and most respected academic incubators, having supported approximately 1,885 startups through its incubation (585+) and launchpad (1,300+) programs. NSRCEL combines the academic rigor and alumni network of a top-tier business school with hands-on startup support infrastructure.
NSRCEL operates as a full-stack incubator offering programs across the entire startup lifecycle — from ideation through growth. It runs separate tracks for technology startups, social enterprises, and women-led ventures, each with tailored mentorship, funding access, and curriculum. As part of IIM Bangalore, it provides unique advantages in business strategy, market research, and access to a powerful alumni network of corporate leaders and investors.
Key programs include the NSRCEL Incubation Program (6-12 month hands-on incubation with office space, mentorship, and investor connects), the Launchpad@NSRCEL (a co-working and pre-incubation program for idea-stage founders), the Women Startup Program (in partnership with Goldman Sachs), and the Social Entrepreneurship Track. NSRCEL also runs the IIMB-NSRCEL Business Accelerator for growth-stage companies. The centre has facilitated multiple corporate innovation partnerships, including programs with Hindustan Unilever, Capgemini, NITI Aayog, and others. Regular demo days, investor meetups, and masterclasses featuring IIM Bangalore faculty and industry practitioners round out the support ecosystem.
NSRCEL's portfolio includes notable companies across sectors. The centre reports that portfolio companies have achieved exits through acquisitions by companies including Qualcomm, Pegasystems, Brillio, and Freshworks — demonstrating that the academic incubation model can produce venture-scale outcomes.
Indian founders at any stage — from students with an idea to growth-stage companies seeking business mentorship. The centre is sector-agnostic but particularly strong in social enterprise, technology, and consumer businesses. Women founders have access to dedicated programs with additional funding and mentorship support. Startups do not need to be IIM Bangalore alumni to apply — external founders are welcome.
NSRCEL's location in Bangalore — India's startup capital — combined with the IIM Bangalore brand and 24-year track record creates a powerful launchpad. The centre's emphasis on business fundamentals, unit economics, and market validation produces founders who build sustainable businesses. Its alumni exits to companies like Qualcomm and Freshworks validate the model.
