Frequently Asked Questions
What is the MSME Competitive (LEAN) Scheme?
The LEAN scheme subsidises the implementation of LEAN manufacturing techniques — such as 5S, Kaizen, Kanban, Poka-Yoke, and Value Stream Mapping — in MSME clusters to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and boost competitiveness.
Who is eligible?
All Udyam-registered MSMEs, particularly manufacturing units. Cluster participation is encouraged but individual MSMEs can also apply through the scheme.
What subsidy percentage is available?
Micro enterprises get 80% subsidy, Small enterprises 60%, and Medium enterprises 50% on the cost of LEAN implementation. Women/SC/ST-owned units and those in NE/Himalayan/LWE/aspirational districts get an additional 10%.
What does LEAN implementation involve?
Certified LEAN consultants/trainers work with your shop floor to implement tools like 5S (workplace organisation), Kaizen (continuous improvement), Kanban (flow control), and Value Stream Mapping to cut waste and improve throughput.
Is there any repayment?
No. The subsidy is non-repayable. You pay only your share of the implementation cost after the government subsidy is deducted.
How do I enrol?
Visit msme.gov.in or contact your nearest MSME Development and Facilitation Office (MSME-DFO). Cluster-based enrolment is coordinated through MSME-DFO and approved LEAN consultants.
