Avishkaran is the Foundation for Pharma Innovation, a BIRAC BioNEST bio-incubator based at NIPER Hyderabad in Balanagar, Hyderabad. Its site describes it as a non-profit organization established at the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Hyderabad, and supported by BIRAC BioNEST. It is built for pharmaceutical technology development, technology transfer and commercialization.

Who it is for

Avishkaran invites startups, innovators, entrepreneurs, researchers and teams working in pharma, biotech, healthcare, life sciences and allied areas. Its stated focus areas are development and testing of injectables, ophthalmic and modified solid dosage forms, new process technologies for APIs and key intermediates, and pharmaceutical management and marketing. If your idea is outside life sciences, this is not the right door. Its own objectives speak of pharmaceutical entrepreneurs, start-ups and MSMEs, and of cost-effective facilities so incubatees can meet the regulatory requirements for commercial use.

What you get

The centre has incubation space of approximately 8000 Square feet with common lab facilities and co-working space. The site lists laboratory and incubation infrastructure, expert mentorship and technical guidance, support for product development and commercialization, and startup ecosystem and industry connections. It says it is linked with pharmaceutical industries, especially MSMEs, R&D institutes, universities and Telangana Government initiatives such as RICH, the Research and Innovation Circle of Hyderabad. NRDC, the National Research Development Corporation, is also listed as a collaborator. Its menu also lists a Central Instrumentation Facility and an Animal House, but those pages had no content when we checked, so ask before counting on them.

How to apply

Avishkaran takes applications in calls. When we checked, Incubation Call 2 of 2026 was open, and the Incubate page carries the application form. The form asks for your personal details, PAN and Aadhar numbers, whether you have started a company or filed a patent, details of co-founders and team, the problem you solve, competitors, value proposition, business model and revenue model, and a pitch deck. You also tick the kind of support you want: physical space, technical support, mentorship, financial support, regulatory support, IP filing and consultation, or technology transfer. The site does not state a closing date, a fee or whether equity is taken, so confirm those with the team before you apply.

Who runs it

The site names a chief operating officer, an incubation manager and a principal investigator who is a NIPER professor. Contact is through the role inbox on the avishkaran.org domain. The page also lists funding schemes announced by BIRAC, for example calls for BioNEST, BIPP, PACE and SBIRI proposals, which are worth reading if you are building a biotech company. A careers page lists openings at the incubator from time to time.
