The centre runs a ladder of programmes, and the right entry point depends on how far your startup has come:

• A student with an early or unvalidated idea: YUVA Validate, which is built around validating the idea before you build.
• An early-stage or pre-revenue founder ready to commit for several months: Grind2Growth.
• Past the prototype and ready for lab-to-market support: the Incubation programme.
• At early revenue and market-ready, looking for investor access: the Acceleration programme.

How applications work

YUVA Validate and Grind2Growth take applications through online forms, with YUVA Validate open year-round and asking you to pick a preferred cohort. For Incubation, you apply through an application and a pitching contest and send a business deck to the programme inbox. Acceleration starts with a call for applications.

How selection works

The incubation and acceleration routes are competitive and multi-step. For Incubation, a committee of experts reviews and shortlists business decks, and shortlisted startups then pitch to a panel before onboarding. Acceleration moves through screening, a pitch to a jury, an agreement and onboarding, and then due diligence.

What to prepare

• A clear business deck for the incubation route, since the first screen is deck-based.
• Evidence that matches the stage. The incubation route expects you to be past prototyping; the acceleration route expects early revenue and a market-ready product.
• Commitment. Grind2Growth is explicitly for founders willing to participate regularly and engage with mentors and the founder community.

Deshpande Startups, formally the Foundation for Sandbox Startup Initiatives (FSSI), is a government-recognised Technology Business Incubation centre based in Hubballi, Karnataka. It describes itself as a two-state incubator established under DST-NSTEDB, and it has been building for non-metro India since 2016. It is part of the wider Deshpande Foundation ecosystem.

What they support

The centre works with founders at different points in their journey, from students with an unvalidated idea through to market-ready startups raising investment. Its programmes are sector agnostic. Several are built specifically for founders from North Karnataka, while the incubation and acceleration tracks are open more broadly. The validation and development programmes are built for student and early-stage founders; the incubation and acceleration programmes expect a working prototype or early revenue.

Programmes

The centre runs a ladder of programmes rather than a single offering.

YUVA Validate is a five-week hybrid cohort programme for student founders, designed to help them validate a startup idea through customer discovery before they build. Grind2Growth (G2G) is a six-month entrepreneurship development programme for committed founders building early-stage or pre-revenue startups, blending live workshops, recorded content, community events and mentoring.

The Incubation programme runs for twelve months and takes startups that are past the prototyping stage, offering lab-to-market support across market exposure, knowledge, networks, infrastructure, prototyping and batch production. Alumni retain access to the ecosystem for a further two years. The Acceleration programme is a sixteen-week, cohort-driven, market- and investment-focused programme for early-revenue-stage and market-ready startups, with mentoring, market access and investor interface. Its named cohorts, among them Agri & Food, Elevate Women and We Enable Bharat, are currently closed between intakes.

Applications are made programme by programme. YUVA Validate accepts applications year-round through an online form, with a preferred cohort chosen on the way. Grind2Growth takes applications through its online form. For the Incubation programme, founders apply through an application and pitching contest: a business deck is reviewed by a committee, shortlisted startups pitch to a panel, and selected startups are then onboarded. The Acceleration programme runs a call for applications, screening, a jury pitch, agreement and onboarding, and due diligence. Each programme page lists a role inbox for questions.

Track record

The figures the centre publishes are for its YUVA Validate programme. It reports supporting more than 105 student entrepreneurs and graduating 37 student startups across its cohorts. These are the centre's own self-reported numbers.

Where it operates

The centre is based on Gokul Road in Hubballi, Karnataka, next to the airport, and describes itself as operating across two states. It sits within the Deshpande Foundation ecosystem and focuses on founders from non-metro India.
