Incubation at IIEC

IIEC incubates companies started by IIT Gandhinagar alumni and says it is open to companies from outside the institute as well. Rather than one fixed cohort it describes four stages: ideation for someone with no settled idea or domain yet, pre-incubation from validating an idea to a proof of concept, incubation from proof of concept to a business, and acceleration for scaling something already proven. The centre's own line to founders is that if you think you have a technology that can make a viable business, walk in.

What you get

• Co-working or an individual office with furniture, storage, air-conditioning and wired and wireless internet
• Meeting and discussion rooms, and printing, photocopying and scanning
• Wet and dry labs, rapid prototyping for hardware and software, and a tinkering lab
• Access to IIT Gandhinagar's labs and library, and hostel accommodation subject to availability
• Non-monetary help incorporating the company, plus IPR consultancy, secretarial assistance, and finance and accounting
• Mentorship, business management advice, and introductions to chartered accountants, company secretaries, HR, patent attorneys and lawyers
• Networking with professional bodies, venture capital firms, investors and other funding agencies

• Founders from inside and outside IIT Gandhinagar
• Teams building technology products, at any of the four stages above

How selection works: IIEC reviews your pre-application questionnaire against the criteria for each programme. You may then be invited to a first meeting, and after that preliminary assessment you are referred to whichever programme fits your stage.
