This program is a partnership between Greentown Labs, the Urban Future Lab, EPRI, and Shell, recognizing the need to accelerate the development and commercialization of low-carbon technologies for economy-wide decarbonization. EPRI and Shell, as leaders in their respective industries, bring domain expertise, R&D facilities, and access to global customers. The accelerator is supported by the City of Houston, which is positioned to become a global hydrogen hub.

A year-long accelerator program supporting BIPOC-led climatetech startups with incubation, a curated curriculum, and extensive mentorship.

What you get, who can apply and how to apply

The year-long program combines acceleration with a curated curriculum, incubation at Greentown, and extensive mentorship from Greentown and Browning the Green Space (BGS)'s networks of industry experts. Selected startups participate in trainings led by VentureWell covering customer discovery, pitch decks, financial models, and fundraising. Additional workshops span product development, market strategy, capital raising, legal guidance, and team building. Participants gain valuable mentorship and receive fundraising and investment support, including pitch-deck development and investor introductions. The program also provides desk space and membership within Greentown, granting access to in-kind resources like software and legal support, corporate partners, and community resources. Participants also receive BGS membership to connect with clean-energy sector practitioners. Startups present to investors and industry leaders at public kickoff and showcase events and receive enhanced visibility through ACCEL marketing. Applicants may apply from anywhere globally, with priority given to those based in Greater Boston and Greater Houston.
